Noh Yun-ah (Korean: 노윤아; born January 15, 2004), known mononymously as Yunah, is a South Korean singer under Belift Lab. She is best known for finishing 6th in JTBC's girl group survival show R U Next?, representing Belift Lab, and becoming a member of the South Korean girl group ILLIT.[1]

Life and career[edit]

Early life[edit]

Yunah was born on January 15, 2004, in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do.[2] She has a brother who is younger than her by three years (born in 2007).[3] Yunah graduated from Chungju Geumneung Elementary School and Chungju Buk Girls’ Middle School.[4]

2018–2023: Career beginnings, R U Next?[edit]

Yunah trained at Stardium Entertainment on January 1, 2018, and stayed until May 31, 2019.[5] In 2019, Yunah moved to Source Music as a trainee and stayed until 2021.[6] Based on her internship period at Source Music, many fans predict that Yunah practiced with Le Sserafim members.[7] On June 1, 2023, JTBC and Belift Lab announced that they had begun filming for the new survival program R U Next?, which aims to create the agency's next global girl group.[8] From June 30 to September 1, 2023, Yunah became a contestant on R U Next? as a trainee of Belift Lab and also the contestant with the longest training period (5 years).[9][10] On the finale episode, she eventually placed sixth and thus joined the show's final debut lineup, ILLIT.[11] Yunah is the oldest member of the group.[12]

2024–present: Debut with ILLIT[edit]

On March 25, 2024, Yunah officially debuted as a member of the group ILLIT with the release of their first extended play (EP) "Super Real Me".[13][14] ILLIT’s "Super Real Me" debuts at No.93 on Billboard 200[15][16], and continues to soar high with its first mini-album release. Their debut single, "Magnetic" topped South Korea's Circle Digital Chart[17] and joined at No.91 on Billboard Hot 100[18]

ILLIT rose to fame with the success of their following singles "Magnetic" and "Lucky Girl Syndrome".[19] Their first extended play (EP) "Super Real Me" was the first best-selling Rookie Group on the Circle Chart in 2024 (until April 30) with 636,762 copies.[20]

Endorsements[edit]

On March 14, 2024, Acne Studios presented the SS24 campaign starring the K-pop girl group ILLIT. The campaign captured the five-member girl group Yunah, Minju, Wonhee, Moka, and Iroha in a soft-focused dreamy setting showcasing the latest key garments and accessories from the SS24 collection.[21][22][23]

ILLIT sat front row at the label’s latest Paris Fashion Week and just scored a starring role in its Acne Studios SS24 series.[24] On May 1 2024, Yunah became the new ambassador for Bioderma and appeared in a promotional campaign for their Photoderm Aqua Fluid and Sebium H2O.[25][26][27][28]
