Pickering Lumber Co. 12 is a 3-shay built on October 14, 1903 as Sierra Railway #12 in Jamestown, CA. In 1912 the locomotive was as Standard Lumber Co. #12 in Standard, CA. In May 1966 the engine was as Pickering Lumber Co. #12, Standard, CA, Sold to Connell Bros. Trucking Co., private owner, Stockton, CA for potential resale to Cuba, and was acquired by PLA. In 1985 the engine was in service at the Castro Point Railway.

In May 1986 the engine participated at SteamExpo 86 in Vancouver British Columbia alongside with V&T 22 Inyo, CP 374, CP 3, ERM&L Co. 1 Falk, Dunrobin (2nd), GW 51, AP 2, CN 1392, UP 4466, HL Co. Ltd. 1, MB 1077, QRR 2, Tom Thumb (1927 Replica), Best Friend of Charleston (1928 Replica), MRSR 91, John Bull (1939 Replica), CP 2860, CP 1201, CN 6060, John Molson (1970 Replica), and Stephenson's Rocket (1979 Replica).[1][2][3] In January 8, 2005 the engine was moved to the Niles Canyon Railway.[4][5] As of 2024 the locomotive is stored at Brightside, CA, and doesn't know if the locomotive is ready to be restored into operating condition.
