The Rankin Motel, outside of Ashton, Idaho, is a historic motel on U.S. Highway 20. Located about 55 miles (89 km) from West Yellowstone, its development was anticipated to serve visitors to Yellowstone National Park. It has also been known as Rankin Auto Court and is listed under that name on the National Register of Historic Places.
It was partially developed, before opening to the public, during 1920-1924, by creation of a U-shaped driveway and construction of several small cottage units and a shared facility for bathrooms and showers.
In 1920 its last expansion in the historic era was completed, which was the addition of a six-unit motor court building.
It was registered on the National Register of Historic Places in 2022.[1]
In 2023 it was still in the family.[3]
