Robert Mann is an American mass communications professor. He held the prestigious Manship Chair in Journalism at the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.[1]
Career[edit]
Robert Mann's educational background includes degrees from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and California State University, Domiguez Hills. He has a rich history in political communications, having served as press secretary and communications director for notable political figures in Louisiana.
His tenure includes roles such as press secretary for Russell B. Long and John Breaux, as well as the communications director for Kathleen Blanco. These roles have established him as a prominent figure in political journalism and communication.[2]
In 2023, Robert Mann resigned from his tenured position at LSU, following the election of Jeff Landry as Governor of Louisiana. Mann attributed his resignation to repeated attempts by Landry, during his tenure as the state's Attorney General, to have him dismissed from his academic role.
In addition to his political career, Mann has made significant contributions to academia. As a professor at LSU, he has influenced the field of mass communication and journalism through both teaching and research. His academic work has been complemented by his role as an author, with several publications to his name.
