Seinye O.B. Lulu-Briggs (born 21 September 1958) is a Nigerian businesswoman, oil magnate and philanthropist.[1] She serves as the chairman and chief executive officer of Moni Pulo Limited, an indigenous oil and gas company in Nigeria. She is also known for her philanthropic work through the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, which she established in honor of her husband, Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs.[2]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Seinye O.B. Lulu-Briggs was born to a family of educators and community leaders. She experienced the Nigerian Civil War, which significantly influenced her outlook on life. Lulu-Briggs graduated from East Ham College of Technology with a degree in Information Technology.[3]

Career[edit]

Lulu-Briggs began her career in 1981 at the Computer Services Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria and later transitioned to the private sector. She held various positions in commercial and community banking before founding her first business in the ICT services sector.[citation needed]

In 1992, her husband established Moni Pulo Limited, and following his death, she took over as the chairman and chief executive officer. Under her leadership, the company has thrived in the Nigerian oil and gas sector with significant contributions to exploration and production.[4]

Philanthropy[edit]

In 2001, she founded the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, which focuses on elder care, health, education, economic empowerment, water & sanitation, agriculture, and humanitarian services.[5] The foundation is particularly noted for its support to widows and the elderly in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.[2][6]

Awards and recognition[edit]

Lulu-Briggs has received a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from the University of Port Harcourt, the Global Inspirational Leader Award from the Centre for Economic and Leadership Development [7] and Outstanding Woman of the Year 2021 by Business Day.[8]

Personal life[edit]

Lulu-Briggs is an ordained minister and leads worship at the non-denominational Chapel of God International Worship Center in Port Harcourt. She was married to High Chief Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs until his death.[9][10]
