Gilderoy Scamp (7 June 1812 – 12 June 1893) was King of the Romani and a bare-knuckle boxer.[1] He was the eldest child of Sampson Scamp and Celia Scamp.[citation needed] He succeeded his father upon his abdication in the early 1840s. He was a friend of Mayer Amschel de Rothschild[citation needed] and had encounters with the police.[vague][2]
