Harry M. Londelius Jr. (July 16, 1918 – January 15, 1999) was an American architect known for his contributions to building design in Los Angeles, California. He was notably credited with designing the exterior of the house used in the television series The Brady Bunch, despite some sources erroneously crediting his father.
Early life and education[edit]
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Londelius was the grandson of Christian Londelius, who founded the C.A. Londelius & Sons hardware store. His family moved to Los Angeles where he pursued a career in architecture.[1]
Career[edit]
After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, Londelius became an established architect in Los Angeles, designing numerous apartment buildings and houses. His design of the Brady house, the Dilling Street house that was used for exterior shots in The Brady Brunch is among his most recognized works.[2]
Personal life[edit]
Londelius married Jean Frances Burford on June 7, 1941, and they had one daughter. He spent his later years in Pasadena and San Juan Capistrano, California.
Death and legacy[edit]
Londelius passed away in 1999 in Orange, California, and was buried in Riverside, California. Londelius Street in Los Angeles is named in his honor, reflecting his impact on the area.[3]
