James Giles Beadle (born 16 July 2004) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Championship Sheffield Wednesday, on loan from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.

He is an English youth international, currently playing for England U20 after appearing for the Young Lions from the under 15 level.

Club career[edit]

Brighton & Hove Albion[edit]

Beadle played youth football for Charlton Athletic and Brighton & Hove Albion before signing professionally with the latter.[2][3]

Crewe Alexandra (loan)[edit]

Beadle moved on loan to League Two side Crewe Alexandra from Brighton in January 2023.[4][5][6][7] He made his senior debut, keeping a clean sheet, in Crewe's goalless draw at Walsall on 21 February 2023.[8] During his ninth Crewe appearance, at Colchester United on 10 April 2023, Beadle injured his ankle and subsequently returned to his home club, Brighton.[9]

Oxford United (loan)[edit]

In June 2023, it was announced that he would join Oxford United of League One on loan on 1 July 2023.[10][11] He made his debut on the opening weekend of the season on 5 August.[12]

Sheffield Wednesday (loan)[edit]

On 8 January 2024, he was recalled from his loan at Oxford United and then joined Championship club Sheffield Wednesday on loan for the remainder of the season.[13][14] He made his debut in the 2–1 defeat against Coventry City on 20 January.[15]

International career[edit]

Beadle has played for England at under-15, under-16 and under-18 youth levels.[16][2][17] In September 2022 he represented the under-19 team in qualifying games.[18]

On 10 May 2023, Beadle was included in the England squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.[19] He made his U20 debut during the 0–0 draw with Iraq on 28 May 2023.[20]
