Kavya Maran (born 1 November 1991) is an Indian businessperson, CEO and co-owner[1] of Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League (IPL)[2] and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in SA20 League. She is the daughter of Kalanithi Maran, the chairman and founder of the Sun Group.[3][4]

Early life education[edit]

She was born in Chennai. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree at Stella Maris College in Chennai in 2012. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from New York University Stern School of Business, which she earned in 2016.[5]

Career[edit]

Kaviya joined the Sun Group, the conglomerate founded by her father, which is one of the largest media networks in Asia[6]. She began her professional journey by overseeing operations of Sun TV Network and Sun Music[6], among other FM channels under the Sun Group umbrella.

In 2018, she was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sunrisers Hyderabad[6], the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owned by the Sun Group. Under her leadership, the team has seen both successes and challenges in the league.

Awards[edit]

In January 2024, Kavya was awarded the 'Face and Force Behind Sunrisers Hyderabad[7]' at the Devi Awards[8], in recognition of her significant contributions to the franchise.

Net Worth[edit]

Kaviya's net worth is estimated to be around $50 million[9] (approximately Rs. 409 crore), making her one of the wealthiest young businesswomen in India[10].
