Kuhsar (Persian: كوهسار)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Chendar District of Savojbolagh County, Alborz province, Iran. Kuhsar was formerly two independent villages: Chendar (چندار), also Romanized as Chendār and Chandār; and Qal'e Soleimankhani (قلعه سلیمانخانی).[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 7,757, in 2,075 households, when it was in Tehran province.[5] At the time of the 2016 census, the population was 10,940 in 3,321 households,[2] by which time the county had been separated from the province and become a part of recently established Alborz province.[6]
