Digimon Ghost Game is a Japanese anime and ninth incarnation of the Digimon franchise. The anime adaptation of the series began airing on Fuji TV in Japan from October 3, 2021 to March 26, 2023 replacing Digimon Adventure: in the same timeslot.[1] Wienners performs the opening theme "FACTION", and Aiiro Apollo performs the series' first ending theme "Pedal" (episodes 1–12). BMK performs the second ending theme, "Because I've Been Lovesick" (episodes 13–21). Bye-Bye-Hand performs the third ending theme, "Hikariau Monotachi" (episodes 22–31). The fourth ending theme, "Monster Disco" (episodes 32–44), was written and sung by Shikao Suga and arranged by Hyadain. Kobore performs the fifth ending theme, "Strawberry" (episodes 45–57). Penthouse performs the sixth and final ending theme, "Take Me Maybe" (episodes 58–67).

Digimon Ghost Game is distributed simultaneously by Crunchyroll in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the MENA and CIS zones[2] with English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Italian, German and Russian subtitles.

Later, Hiro and Gammamon see Ruli Tsukiyono being followed by an unknown digimon.

Hiro and Gammamon contact Ruli and learn from Angoramon, a large rabbit-like Digimon who follows her, that the curses are the work of a rogue vampire Digimon called Dracmon seeking to fully materialize into the human world. With a Digivice provided by Hiro, Ruli materializes Angoramon and defeats Dracmon. Dracmon removes the curses and falsely promises to behave before leaving.

Hiro helps with Ruli's preparations for her school's Halloween party when a Pumpkinmon starts abducting the students and faculty. When the duo and their Digimon partners discover what he is doing, they confront him and his culprits, a pack of Ekakimon and Candlemon. They hear from Pumpkinmon that he is lonely since he stayed from the Digital World, but rejoiced when people put Jack-o'-lantern decorations resembling him and decided to forcibly put decorations on their heads to make them his friends. After convincing him that what he is doing is wrong, Hiro and Ruli rescue the captives and the Halloween party continues peacefully.

Hiro's schoolmate and dorm manager Kiyoshirō Higashimitarai claims that he is haunted by ghosts and hoping to ward them off, hacks his way inside computers across the city to install digital talismans. However, the "ghost" pursuing him is revealed as the mischievous jellyfish-like Digimon Jellymon, who forces Kiyoshirō into becoming her partner and converts the digital talismans into malwares that take down the city's online transaction system, which brings them the ire of the dragon Digimon Majiramon and his followers Goatmon, Quetzalmon, and Rabbitmon. While Hiro and Ruli keep the attackers busy, Kiyoshirō and Jellymon remove the talismans, restoring the system and apologize to Majiramon, who spares them.

Their investigations lead them to meet the Digimon Sirenmon who attempts to cheer everybody with her music, but ends up scaring people instead. With Kiyoshirō's help, the children and their Digimon make a trap for Sirenmon and confront her, convincing her to travel away in order to perfect her singing.

Bird owners across the city are attacked by a pack of crows that release the birds they keep. Mika, one of Ruli's friends ask for her help to find her missing sparrow. Certain that a Digimon is involved, Hiro and Ruli investigate the places where the attacks occurred while Kiyoshirō uncovers the pattern behind the attacks, discovering that the next target is a bird sanctuary which keeps many birds of prey who may attack people if broken free. To stop this, the children confront the Digimon responsible, the three-legged crow-like Crowmon who is proven too strong for them, until Gammamon digivolves into KausGammamon, who forces Crowmon to flee. After the battle, some of the released birds return to their owners by their own will, including Mika's, much to her joy.

Amid sightings of a huge number of monsters running through the road at night, Ruli takes Hiro and Kiyoshirō for a ride in a go-kart track, where they spot Sistermon Ciel stealing one of the karts by Jellymon's suggestion. The children chase after her just to get their Digimon involved in a race for survival against MetalPhantomon, who forces the participants to run around all the night, absorbing those he catches or attempts to escape. Learning that the race was Sistermon Ciel's idea, Ruli deceives her into fighting MetalPhantomon, until an unknown black cat Digimon appears in their way and opens a portal that sends all the contestants back to the Digital World, except for the children and their partners.

Hiro becomes aflicted with a strange condition that affects his sense of time. While looking for an answer, he joins Ruli and Kiyoshirō in a visit to a library with some rumors of ghost sightings where they meet Bokomon and Bakumon. Their conversation is interrupted when Clockmon appears and attacks Hiro in revenge for his defeat, revealing that he is the one tormenting him. Gammamon makes a stand to protect Hiro and during their fight, a mass of dark energy from Gammamon reflects Clockmon's attack right back at the enemy who is at risk of being deleted by its effects. In an act of mercy, Gammamon digivolves into BetelGammamon and uses his powers to revert the effects of Clockmon's attacks on him, saving his life. After the battle, Clockmon reforms, apologizing to the children for the trouble he caused and stays with Bokomon and Bakumon at the library to learn to control his powers.

Players of a famous online fighting game start disappearing after being defeated by an unknown female character. Kotaro, one of Hiro's close friends is abducted in front of him and Kiyoshirō while playing the game and they consult with Bokomon for info, learning that the kidnappings must be the work of the Digimon siblings Kinkakumon and Ginkakumon, and that the captured players must be contained in Ginkakumon's gourd to be slowly transformed into saké. To attract the culprits, Kiyoshirō plays the game and draws Kinkakumon's attention. Jellymon fights Kinkakumon with Kiyoshirō's assistance but is overpowered, until Kiyoshirō briefly surpasses his cowardice and makes Jellymon digivolve into TeslaJellymon, who defeats her. Recognizing their defeat, Kinkakumon and Ginkakumon release the captive players and promise to not abduct people again.

Kiyoshiro deletes a chain email he receives from a professor he knows, causing a swarm of plant-like Weedmon to emerge from his video game. With the Weedmon appearing all across the city whenever someone deletes the chain email, increasing in size from consuming waters Hiro and his friends learn from Bokomon that must stop the Weedmon before their overpopulate the world. Kiyoshiro opens a lake field in the pseudo-digital world to draw the Weedmon in, causing them to converge into a giant Weedmon that Hiro and the others defeat after a tough battle. However, another Weedmon with a cane appears to them and explains that it was the original Weedmon. Upon reaching the Human World, it multiplied itself to have a friend, but its clone ran away and began to multiply more and search for water for its own consumption. Weedmon and his clones leave, saying they wouldn't bother the humans again.

Unfortunately, the forest is a terrible place where people who enter it are led astray by an eerie mist and go missing one by one. While surrounded by the mist, Hiro's group find themselves in a turf war between the turtle-like mollusk Digimon MoriShellmon and cherry tree Digimon Cherrymon.

The hesitant group accepts and end up falling into a trap as the woman reveals her true identity as Arukenimon, a sadistic arachnid Digimon who has been feeding on human brains. Gammamon obliterates Arukenimon as GulusGammamon in the resulting fight, asking Hiro to keep his distance from him after reverting to his rookie form.

The service is meant to provide restful sleep beneath cherry blossoms, but all of a sudden, the sleeping participants begin to moan in pain and suffer injuries. Around the same time, Ruli and Angoramon, who participated in the cherry blossom sleep therapy, are attacked by the skeleton Digimon SkullGreymon in their dreams. Ruli and Angoramon desperately try to escape, but they always return back to SkullGreymon in a looping nightmare. In the real world, injuries begin to show up on their bodies.

Ruli is invited to the trendsetter company Scarlatto Vento and encounters Dracomon before he is killed for his defiance by its CEO "Aviel Kyogoku", revealed to be a vampire Digimon named Myotismon who vampirizing women influencers and have them convert other humans. Ruli flees to the roof as Hiro and the others arrive to save her, only to be overpowered by Myotismon's minions while BetelGammamon is infected by one of Myotismon's bats. But Hiro manages to take control of the situation and digivolves BetelGammamon into his Ultimate form, the dragon-like Canoweissmon, who drives off Myotismon and his servants with the spell over his victims broken.

Angoramon crosses paths with his old friend, the egg-like Digitamamon, who lives alone in an empty house. Angoramon immediately brings Ruli with him to visit, only to find Digitamamon gradually acting strange while Hiro and the gang learn of an eerie rumor about the vacant house where Digitamamon lives. It was only when Angoramon finds him attempting to eat Ruli that Digitamamon reveals his arrival to the human world caused him to develop an uncontrollable hunger for human souls. After a tough battle, SymbareAngoramon is forced to kill Digitamamon. Before dying, Digitamamon tells Angoramon that he too has changed, and questions him if he's still a Digimon or if he's a human now.

Hiro and Ruli hear about the commotion and investigate.. Unable to contact Kiyoshiro, Angoramon flies up to the skies to check out the situation when he senses the presence of a particular Digimon, which is revealed to be a plant dragon-like Digimon, Toropiamon.

They also turn Kayono's childhood friend Aoi into a doll, alerting a concerned Ruli as Hiro's group investigates and encounters a teddy bear Digimon, Monzaemon, while ExTyranomon and WaruMonzaemon have talked Kayono in helping them build up their doll collection for a cruel game.

But that Digimon is actually controlled by the spirit of Musyamon, a samurai Digimon that was absorbed into his Shiratorimaru katana upon entering the human world using a Digimon to help him reconstruct his body with Digimon data. Despite Angoramon's will power, he eventually falls prey to Musyamon's control within days while being challenged by Musyamon's rival Zubamon.

They find the culprit to be a giant blob known as RareRaremon, who implanted parts of itself in the zombies and has been feeding on zombified wildlife and humans in an attempt to repair its damaged body. The group decide to put RareRaremon out of its misery.

Hiro is suddenly transported by an onmyōji Digimon named Doumon, who is possessed by the spirits of the Hojo Clan that seek to re-establish the bakufu period in Kamakura and have Hiro made into the vessel of their young lord. This leaves Gammamon at a lost as he gains aid in a wandering Digimon called Espimon to break Doumon's spell.

Hiro and Gammamon receive a small visitor named Gyukimon who seeks their help, Angoramon revealing the Gyukimon are a dreaded Digimon species that turns those they bite into more Gyukimon. Ruli and Kiyoshiro are wary while Gyukimon reveals he was a Ryudamon who somehow assumed this form while assuring Hiro's group he has no intention of harming anything despite considering leaving the others for their safety. Coming with the group the next day to their fieldtrip on an island facility, Gyukimon begins losing control of himself as he accidentally bite some of Hiro's classmates while growing in size. Eventually, once learning Ryudamon digivolved to Gyukimon, the group manage to restore him to his rookie form with Bakumon restoring the injected humans and altering their memories of the incident.
40  (Spiral Beach)

But the two have to make up upon discovering the culprit is the squid-like Calmaramon, who finds beauty in Spirals.

Hiro, Gammamon, and Ruli return to the circus and fight Piedmon's lackeys. Ruli defeats Piedmon in a card game and orders him to return all the children to their real forms and to stop turning children into cards. After doing so, the Pierre Dream Circus leaves.

Hiro talks to Ruli about this, and Ruli tells him that there's been a lot of talk on the internet recently about "Reward Elves," dwarves who deliver things that people want. Hiro begins to suspect a connection between the Reward Elves and Fukatsu. He then comes upon the suspicious website that Fukatsu said he'd stumbled on, with the Reward Elves revealed to be a trio of small rabbit digimon Antylamon who are unintentionally destroying the building to create the items humans are requesting of them.

While this is underway, a news article reaches them that a member of the popular idol group D★topics has died. Kiyoshiro, a D★topics fan, is shocked by the news and is determined to protect the girls. Hiro and his friends infiltrate the TV station and learn the “Bubbly News” editor is a Digimon named Publimon who is making his prediction reports a reality while taking out any critics.

Ruli, exposed to the spores, starts to grow weird mushrooms out of her body. It was the work of the mushroom-like Chamblemon, who are using happy brides to grow mushrooms that they eat for sustenance. Hiro and Gammamon chase after the Chamblemon, only to end up exposed to the spores and grow mushrooms. Kiyoshiro rushes late to the scene, and he too falls prey to the spores. Just when they're in mortal peril, the Chamblemon show a surprising reaction when they eat the mushrooms growing from Kiyoshiro's body.

While Hiro and Kiyoshiro observe this and are glad they are getting along, the former realizes something is off as Pucchiemon is madly in love with Riku. It all comes down to ahead when Pucchiemon digivolves into Meicrackmon Vicious Mode to force Riku into loving her back. Though Gammamon and the others manage to subdue Maycrackmon and explain that romantic relationships between humans and Digimon is impossible, she misinterprets their intent and runs off with a broken heart.

Ruli and Kiyoshiro call Octomon for help, only for him to reveal that he and his Fujitsumon had a falling out, with the Fujitsumon attaching themselves to various humans and Digimon. The only way to save Hiro and the others from turning into Octomon is to convince the Fujitsumon's leader, who attached itself to Espimon and forces him to attack the gang when they find them.
55  (Bakeneko)

That night, Choro appears, turned into a nekomata, and bewitches the sleeping Kiyoshiro into hopping along the rooftops. Hiro witnesses this before he and Gammamon are also bewitched into making their way to a pet cemetery, the culprit being Beastmon who is rooting an ideal pet from the bewitched victims in a series of life and death scenarios.
56  (Impurity)

People around the city begin displaying a strange compulsion for cleanliness, including Kiyoshiro. Hiro and Ruli discover that the people are being transformed into wooden puppets. Ruli ends up captured by the culprit, Kuzuhamon, who intends to remove all "impurities" from her victims' bodies by extracting their souls and preparing a ritual to "purify" them. With only Hiro left, Kuzuhamon attacks him but he and Gammamon fight back, until Gammamon gains the power to Mega Digivolve into Siriusmon, who defeats her. Upon recognizing that Hiro and Gammamon's bond is special, Kuzuhamon gives up on the ritual and brings all her victims back to normal.

As Lilithmon subjects Gammamon and Kotaro to her miasma to force their compliance, Hiro finds her previous victim lying outside the church.

All passengers aboard a cruise ship are soaked in a strange water that makes them expel all their data in the form of more water. Hiro, Ruli and Kiyoshiro arrive with their Digimon partners at the nearby city to participate in a local festival when the inhabitants begin suffering from the same phenomena. As the city floods, they run to a higher place where they meet Submarimon, who reveals that the water was created by a group of Divermon, and accompany them to a nearby shrine, where a strange mummified body was discovered. When they examine the mummy, it falls in the water, revealing that it was a dehydrated Cthyllamon, who is the leader of the Divermon. Refusing to restore the villagers, the enemies attack Hiro and Ruli and put them under their control, leaving Kiyoshiro to fight alone. During the fight, Kiyoshiro's bond with Thetismon makes her digivolve to the Mega level, becoming Amphimon, who defeats the enemies and convinces them to restore the humans they attacked.

At Madarius Physics Research Center, Manami Jinno is studying warped space when an accident causes her death, soon before the date she was supposed to marry Toru Igashira. One night, Toru's sister, Kotoha, wakes up and sees Manami walking around the house. Kotoha tells Ruli about it, and the group goes to investigate. The group concludes Manami is, in fact, dead, and decides to wait until the time Manami usually starts moving. As they wait, more strange events happen in the house. Toru eventually arrives home, and causes Manami to start moving and even talk. Kotoha tries to convince her brother about Manami's death. Manami notices Hiro's group and absorbs energy from Toru, Kotoha, and Kiyoshiro, while groups of Vilemon and Tsumemon watch. Eventually, ZeedMillenniummon emerges from inside Manami, and tries to destroy the world. Manami's voice appears from inside ZeedMillenniummon and reveals Moon=Millenniummon emerged from a gate during the accident that caused her death and hid in her body, using her memories to trick Toru in order to absorb energy for its revival. Manami reveals she is ZeedMillenniummon's weak spot, and tells the Digimon to aim at her, and also tries to convince Toru to accept her death. Siriusmon and Diarbbitmon defeat ZeedMillenniummon, who once again becomes a Moon=Millenniummon and sleeps. Hiro decides to keep watch on Moon=Millenniummon himself.
62  (The Strange Floor)

Strange events at Aoi's apartment building are causing people to move away, with the place being rumored to be haunted. Espimon decides to move from Hiro's room in order to find the real Hiro. He eventually comes across Aoi's building and sees a room filled with sand. Ruli goes to Aoi's building to investigate, but a Hiyarimon calling the elevator accidentally causes Aoi to become trapped in the 13.5th floor. A voice asks Aoi for a key, but unable to give the correct answer, keyholes start appearing in her body. The rest of the group goes to investigate the building and learn Digimon are living in rooms abandoned by humans. The Digimon accuse the group of interfering with their homes, and the voice throws them away, deciding to separate the 10th to 18th floors from the Human World. Espimon finds Aoi, terrified by all the Digimon who noticed her, and lends her his key, helping her get to the entrance. This causes a contract violation with the voice, ClavisAngemon, who attacks the group. Hiro tries to reason with ClavisAngemon, who ignores his words and easily seals Lamortmon and Amphimon with his "The Key". As he is about to seal Siriusmon as well, Espimon desperately tries to help, and begs Hiro to prove he is the real one by digivolving him. Hiro synchronizes with Espimon, who digivolves to HoverEspimon, and helps Siriusmon overpower ClavisAngemon. Hiro finally gets ClavisAngemon to listen. ClavisAngemon returns the floors to normal and agrees to use only the space between floors as Digimon homes and not the normal floors used by humans. Aoi thanks Espimon for his help.

When Gulus Gammamon tries to fight back, Siriusmon devours him, and he realizes Gammamon's true intention, to redeem him.
