Mocked by her mother's dark skin and indigenous roots, Jasmine grows up ashamed of her own race. Because her fair skin could pass her off as an average citizen, Jasmine travels to the city where she lives a life of endless lies. Now married to an affluent man, Jasmine is convinced that she has escaped her debasing past. This denial slowly consumes her peace until she realizes that the mother she abandoned is the reason for being a glorified position at present.

After graduating from high school, Jay works in a factory where money is hard to earn; nevertheless, he finds the job worth keeping as long as it is enough to keep his blind mother off the streets. Amidst their difficult life making measly income, Jay learns a valuable trait from his mother through a seemingly peculiar habit of buying lottery tickets and believing in luck.

Unlike her mother and sister, Cecille was never interested in beauty contests. On the contrary, her passion involved food, and this resulted to obesity. Her weight was often the subject of ridicule among people she encountered, but thanks to her family's love, Cecille was at peace with herself. No one knew that Cecille would become a celebrity. After bagging the role of the comic character, Dabiana, in a television show, Cecille became famous for her weight and won the hearts of two remarkable men.

Nina (Hazel Ann Mendoza), who has been adopted by some relatives in Manila, shares to her younger sister Jasmine (Maja Salvador) how wonderful city life is. The young woman paints such a beautiful picture of her experiences in Manila that Jasmine could not help but long for the same thing. Coming from a financially-strapped family living in the province, nine-year-old Jasmine wished that she can be adopted by their well-off relatives too, so she can also have the comfortable life Nina is experiencing. It was too late however when she realizes that Nina merely embellished the story of her glorious city life. Worse, she was entrusted to a different set of relatives, who instead of taking care of her as their own flesh and blood, rapes her not once but several times. Can Jasmine ever escape this life of torture?
