Lorraine Badoy-Partosa
Lorraine Marie Tablang Badoy-Partosa,[1][2] better known as Lorraine Badoy and sometimes also called Lorraine Partosa,[3] is a Filipino physician,[4] government official, and political figure best known for having been one of the spokespersons of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict,[5] and for being involved in various controversies relating to the practice of red-tagging in the Philippines.[6][7][8]
Badoy-Partosa was also Undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO)[9] and Assistant Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.[10] She is the half-sister of advocacy leader and educator Gang Badoy[11] and the niece of former Cotabato City Mayor Ludovico Badoy.[12]
Prior to her appointment to government, Badoy-Partosa was known for being an avid supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte during his campaign.[13]
Legal cases[edit]
Civil complaints seeking ₱2 million in damages have been filed against Badoy-Partosa by activist Carol Araullo[14] and separately by her son, journalist Atom Araullo,[15] for Badoy-Partosa's repeated red-tagging of them in public. Atom Araullo decided not to file libel charges on Badoy-Partosa as he is against the criminalization of libel, which is used to harass legitimate media in the Philippines.[15]
The Supreme Court of the Philippines in a 51-page judgment by Marvic Leonen promulgated on February 29, 2024, fined Badoy PHP 30,000 for indirect contempt of court per publication of vitriolic statements and outright threats. She was found guilty of online red-tagging Manila RTC, Branch 19 Judge Judge Marlo A. Magdoza-Malagar calling him an “idiot judge” who lawyered for the CPP-NPA (A.M. No. 22-09-16-SC and G.R. No. 263384, Re: Statements made by Lorraine Marie T. Badoy allegedly threatening Judge Marlo A. Magdoza-Malagar and Atty. Rico V. Domingo, et al. v. Lorraine Marie T.
