Please replace with this tweaked version of MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning-email:

{{edit filter warning
|filter = 247
|action = warn
|friendly = yes
|text = <div style="text-align: center;">Welcome to Wikipedia!</div>
Your edit has triggered an automated filter and has been disallowed. It looks like you're trying to add an email address to this page. Doing that, especially with a personal email address, is usually a bad idea as it can attract large amounts of spam. Though there are a few legitimate reasons to include an email address, in most cases Wikipedia will remove email addresses that are added to articles or discussion pages.

If you want to communicate with a particular user via email, Wikipedia has a built-in email function you can use. If you would like to request general assistance, the fastest way is usually to post a question at the Help Desk. Wikipedia also provides a guide to asking for help — including via email — if you feel that is necessary.

If you believe you received this message in error, you may report this error.

Please add If you are attempting to add a link to a Mastodon account, and this filter is preventing you from doing so, please do not file a false positive report. Instead, please follow the instructions at Template:Mastodon user to add a link to the account. If you are experiencing trouble using the template, please visit the Teahouse for assistance in doing so to the interface. There is an exception in the edit filter for Mastodon accounts using this template, and people who are attempting to add Mastodon accounts to their userspace should attempt to self-fix using the instructions from the template documentation and should seek assistance at the Teahouse if they're having trouble with the template in lieu of filing an EFFP report. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 16:53, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In the final sentence of the paragraph about linking to a Mastodon account, please add a period that ends like this (... visit the Teahouse for assistance in doing so.). Thank you. – 64andtim (talk) 01:42, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

 Done * Pppery * it has begun... 02:14, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on changes to this and a similar MediaWiki page[edit]

A discussion is ongoing at Wikipedia:Edit_filter_noticeboard#About_filter_247's_warning_and_disallow_messages for a matter concerning this and a similar MediaWiki page. EggRoll97 (talk) 23:54, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you believe you received this message in error, you may report it here.
|fplink = no

Please add the above I requested; this removes the Report error button and adds a notice below the third paragraph. The report error gets clicked by people who tend to make reports for false positives when they are, in fact, true positives, leading to time being wasted at EFFPR. The plain link itself is good enough for people who really want to file a false positive report anyway. Codename Noreste 🤔 La Suma 03:25, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Genuinely out of curiosity, what is the frequency in which people are reporting not-false positives from this filter? Primefac (talk) 08:52, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Probably when they trip this filter and 1245 combined; there were some hits in the filter log for Talk:Luxembourg, but non-oversighters can't see them anymore.
Before a major change was done by EggRoll97, I think there were some false positives when people tried to add some kind of skin extension or similar to their .js/.css pages. Codename Noreste 🤔 La Suma 13:00, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done Ah, yes, I see now the issue. They'll click a button because there's a button to press, but there's zero reason for them to be pressing the button because it's almost definitely not a false positive. Primefac (talk) 13:11, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
