Proposed changes[edit]

Your edit has triggered a filter designed to warn editors, organisations and companies against using Wikipedia as an advertising medium. Your edit triggered this filter because it may constitute advertising. Please read the following carefully.

Wikipedia is foremost an encyclopedia, and not a vehicle foradvertising or promoting organisations, companies or individuals. If that is not your intent, we apologize. However, before you continue you may wish to review Wikipedia's guidelines on conflicts of interest, and external links as these may help you decide whether the information you want to include is appropriate for Wikipedia. Editing against these policies is considered spam.

Also, usernames may not be promotional or represent a group. Please review our policy on this. If your username does not meet this policy you are advised to post a request for it to be changed here. However, please be careful because editing inappropriately against our conflict of interest and advertising policy is not permitted under any username. Please feel free to ask at the Help Desk if you have any questions.

If you're sure you still want to make this edit, go to the bottom of this page and click 'Save page' again, and it will be submitted as is. If you believe you received this message in error, you may report this error.

The message should explain why the filter was triggered. The text above does not contain such an explanation. On the other hand, in the current message it is present: "The reason, why your edit triggered the filter, is that the name of your account coincides or is contained in the name(s) of web links that you are trying to add to the page".
I created this message to address a very specific problem—some editors did not understand what was bad with their edit and, as a result, filed false positives reports. The specific message that I created solved this problem. Ruslik_Zero 19:21, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please see this discussion, [1]. Basically users are just switching names to add spam. This message explicitly tells them how to evade this filter which is the problem. Triplestop x3 16:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
