Interwiki; please unprotect[edit]

Please add no:Mal:Kartposisjon Massachusetts to the interwikis. But rather, please just unprotect this template. I have added interwikis to hundreds of location maps on the English Wikipedia, and this is the first time I've come across a locked one (and that on Massachusetts of all places -- and the template has no history of vandalism whatsoever!). It should not be necessary to protect this template at all. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 07:37, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 Done in adding the interwiki; however, given the protection history, I'd ask that you contact Closedmouth directly about the protection, rather than start wheel-protecting this article. Thanks. Skier Dude (talk) 22:31, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
An even better idea might be to write a proper documentation subpage at Template:Location map USA Massachusetts/doc, and then request that it be used to document this template. Anomie 22:38, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that's a good idea. There are hundreds of location map templates, all have the same code and functionality, and it would be a huge waste of time to create a separate doc page for each of those templates. It is better to have documentation for them in one place (in this case at {{location map}} and related pages), and then keep these "meta-templates" as simple as possible. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 22:40, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. However, you could at least set it to semi-protected and not admin-only; like I said, it seems extremely arbitrary that this template alone is admin-only, and that without any history of vandalism. Anyways, thanks for adding. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 22:40, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please unprotect the template to registered users! The template causes interwikiconflicts. pl:Szablon:Mapa dane Massachusetts is the right pl interwiki. --Obersachse (talk) 21:47, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: {{edit protected}} is usually not required for edits to the documentation, categories, or interlanguage links of templates using a documentation subpage. Use the 'edit' link at the top of the green "Template documentation" box to edit the documentation subpage. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:21, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I made that request before you moved the interwikis to the doc page. --Obersachse (talk) 23:15, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No you didn't. My edit was 19:40, 6 February 2013 (see section below); your request was just over two hours later. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:29, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: Add documentation sub-page[edit]

Please add the newly created documentation sub-page Template:Location map USA Massachusetts/doc, which can be done by replacing everything from <noinclude> to </noinclude> with:

}}<noinclude>
{{Location map/Info}}
{{Documentation}}
<!-- PLEASE ADD THIS TEMPLATE'S CATEGORIES AND INTERWIKIS TO THE /doc SUBPAGE, THANKS -->
</noinclude>

As per Wikipedia:Template documentation#Categories and interwiki links, the documentation transcludes the categories and interwikis into the template, eliminating the need for {{edit protected}} requests to update those. -- Zyxw (talk) 18:43, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done --Redrose64 (talk) 19:41, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: add relief map[edit]

Please insert |image1=Relief map of USA Massachusetts.png in line 8. Or equivalently, replace

{{#switch:{{{1}}}
|name=Massachusetts
|top = 43.1
|bottom = 41
|left = -73.7
|right = -69.7
|image = USA Massachusetts location map.svg
}}<noinclude>
{{Location map/Info}}
{{Documentation}}
<!-- PLEASE ADD THIS TEMPLATE'S CATEGORIES AND INTERWIKIS TO THE /doc SUBPAGE, THANKS -->
</noinclude>

with:

{{#switch:{{{1}}}
|name  =Massachusetts
|top   = 43.1
|bottom= 41
|left  =-73.7
|right =-69.7
|image =USA Massachusetts location map.svg
|image1=Relief map of USA Massachusetts.png
}}<noinclude>
{{Location map/Info}}
{{Documentation}}
<!-- PLEASE ADD THIS TEMPLATE'S CATEGORIES AND INTERWIKIS TO THE /doc SUBPAGE, THANKS -->
</noinclude>

Thank you in advance! Michael! (talk) 19:44, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've put it into {{Location map USA Massachusetts/sandbox}}, please test. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:24, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Of course it works! It works in many other comparable templates as well (to name a few: Template:Location map USA Alaska, Template:Location map USA California, Template:Location map USA Florida, Template:Location map USA Michigan, Template:Location map USA Washington, etc.). Confirmation test below. Michael! (talk) 11:43, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
