New Royals Stadium is a proposed baseball stadium to be constructed in Kansas City, Missouri. It will be home to the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball. It will have a capacity of 34,000. Opening is planned for 2028. It will be owned by Jackson County, Missouri.

Background[edit]

In 2021, John Sherman started talking openly about his desire for a move downtown. Funding for the stadium would come from the Royals' ownership group, who plan to invest more than $1 billion in private funding for the project, and the passing of an April 2 election referendum for a 40-year, 3/8th-cent sales tax to help finance the new Royals ballpark and renovate Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs.[1][2][3][4]
