Pickering Lumber Co. No. 12 is a 3-truck shay built on October 14, 1903, as Sierra Railway No.12 in Jamestown, California. In 1912, the locomotive was known as "Standard Lumber Co. No. 12" in Standard, California. In May 1966, the engine was then renamed to "Pickering Lumber Co. No. 12". Later, Standard, California, Sold her to Connell Bros. Trucking Co., in Stockton, California for potential resale to Cuba, and was acquired by the PLA. In 1985, the engine was in service at the Castro Point Railway.
