But M. L. Vasanthakumari seems to be the youngest "woman" to receive the award. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer seems to be the youngest.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
User:Lost gets it. Your turn. Jisha (Talk) 18:34, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Q4

Parliamentarian born in '73 married to Dimple. Name him — Lost(talk) 15:45, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps: "Akhilesh Yadav is a Member of Parliament, and is married to Dimple..." [1]. And, it is a pure guess - Akhilesh Yadav was born in 1973. --Bhadani (talk) 16:48, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Q6

I am sorry. I simply forgot :(
Here is a quick one. He was from North Western Province. Notable for revolutionary activities. Went to the US. No trace of late life after being involved in a conspiracy. Who is he?--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:18, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Har Dayal--WriterListener 21:08, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, Har Dayal's later life (up to death) is known. There is probably no data on the later life of the person in question.--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:00, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Is it Guran Ditt Kumar--WriterListener 03:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Correct. Your turn.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:53, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Q7

He came to power at the age of 10. He is most notable for providing an army of 12,000 men to an Indian emperor to conquer Afghanistan. Who is he?--WriterListener 04:09, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Mirza Raja Jai Singh of Amber. Kguneet 05:19, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
A coincidence that Mirza Raja Jai Singh ascended to power at the age of 10 and also sent an army to Afghanistan, but he did not send 12,000 men to Afghanistan.

Hint: It was a Mughal emperor and the said person is not from India nor of any Indian ethnicity.--WriterListener 23:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Babur? Kguneet 04:31, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Should have expanded on that bit. The person who was given the army is a Mughal emperor, not the person in the question.--WriterListener 18:07, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Shah Tahmasp, gave 12,000 soldiers to Humayun. --Ragib 18:20, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Q8

I am asking the next question. She was born in India, studied in India, died in USA. However, she often denied her Indian birth history (and mixed lineage). She was nominated for Academy Awards. Became a "Lady" at one point of time. Who is she?--Dwaipayan (talk) 00:49, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Merle Oberon aka Estelle Merle O'Brien Thompson. Thanks to Google :) --Ragib 01:12, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Interestingly, when I was a kid, I saw the miniseries Queenie, based on her life, but forgot it until now. --Ragib 01:17, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Ragib, it's your turn, again. Where did you see the miniseries? I mean BTV? Or, in BBC?--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:50, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
BTV. Way back in early 1990s. --Ragib 04:41, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't remember that. But I remember MacGyver, Street hawk, Mr Bean and a whole lot of cartoons in BTV when I was a child :)--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:18, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
So where is the next question? — Lost(talk) 03:20, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Can I invoke Rule 4, and request someone else to ask the question? I can't come up with a good one due to shortage of time. Thanks. --Ragib 03:25, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Q9

Q10

Sorry for the delay. Here is a simple question. Which institute developed the first CNG kits in India? — Ravikiran 08:43, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Not sure about this. But it seems like Automotive Research Institute of India developed one for rickshaws first.--WriterListener 19:55, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Do you have a cite for this? My answer is different, but if you can give a source that shows them developing CNG kits of any sort before ~1995, then I will give you the answer. — Ravikiran 06:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Any guesses? Or is a hint needed? — Ravikiran 07:57, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Hint please :-) Kguneet 13:04, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Is that Yugo-Tech? -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 05:20, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Q12

I am extremely sorry :( I forgot it was my turn and could not log in for some days.

An easy one to carry on: The origin of this group of people is subject to much debate. Linguistic studies have indicated a relation between their language and some Indian languages. Recent genetic studies also indicate their probable origin from India. They are now dispersed almost all over the world. Name the group.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:08, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

The Roma? — Ravikiran 15:52, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it is correct. Please carry on...over to you, Ravi.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:07, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Q13

Sorry for breaking the convention here, but I'd like to ask a question.

What is common to actors Kamal Hassan, Amitabh Bachchan and Charu Hassan? =Nichalp «Talk»= 03:33, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I know that this is right.. but not sure this is what you had in mind. All three have acted in Kannada movies. KH in a guest role long back and a lead role recently, AB in a guest role recently and CH as the protagonist in Girish Kasarvalli's Tabarana Kathe. ?? Sarvagnya 03:38, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
No, this is not what I had in mind. The connection is something more unique. =Nichalp «Talk»= 03:41, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
A wild guess, all were injured during shooting?--Dwaipayan (talk) 06:48, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
No =Nichalp «Talk»= 06:54, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
They all have Ham radio license.--Dwaipayan (talk) 19:27, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Brilliant. How did you deduce it? =Nichalp «Talk»= 20:45, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, some combination in Google gave it. I cannot remember the exact searching string, but some combination of Bachchan and Charu. Good question. Did not know Bachchan is a ham enthusiast! When do they find time!!! --Dwaipayan (talk) 22:45, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Q14

This time I have an interesting question! This is a kind of yet unexplained geographic/climatic phenomenon. This has been reported in several journals including Nature. This phenomenon is known by several names; one of the more common names originates from a town in Ganges-Brahmaputra delta region. What is the phenomenon I am talking about?--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:56, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Are you talking of the bird suicides at Jatinga? -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 01:48, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
That's a good guess. But no, I have something else in my mind. The phenomenon is more geographic in nature than the Jatinga bird suicides.--Dwaipayan (talk) 02:10, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
One more try, Is it the ENSO phenomenon which is being studied and is the likely cause for the floods in Bangladesh? -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 04:20, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Is it the Barisal guns? Kguneet 11:54, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it is indeed Barisal guns. Over to you, kguneet. --Dwaipayan (talk) 13:55, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Q15

I am taking the liberty to ask a question. It's a trivia.

Thakur was inspector of which place when he caught Veeru and Jai in Sholay?--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:32, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Daulatpur? Amondal 05:16, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
No, not Daulatpur. And welcome, Amondal, to the quiz.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:49, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Last guess ... Jamalpur? Amondal 06:41, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it is indeed Jamalpur. May be this Jamalpur :) Your turn, Amondal.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:02, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Q16

Let me step in guys! Here is a try!

Two different films with the same title, the same leading actor and the same music director. Which are these films? I mean, what's the title? ShahidTalk2me 02:05, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Answer:Kannada movie "Sangliana" portrayed on the real-life character H.T. Sangliana. In both the films, the hero was Shankar Nag, music director was Hamsalekha, and even the director of the movies is same, Nanjunda Swamy. Shahid, am I correct? - KNM Talk 05:20, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
No, this is not what I had in mind. Your answer may be right, but I'm not an expert in Kannada films. I'm talking about a Hindi film. ShahidTalk2me 05:28, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Another clue, the films are completely different in terms of story line and it's directed by different directors. ShahidTalk2me 05:30, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Here you go. Deewaar and Deewaar. - KNM Talk 05:36, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
No. I said: "the same music director" too. ShahidTalk2me 05:41, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
One more unsuccessful attempt, and I'll give another clue. ShahidTalk2me 05:56, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Q17

In 1965, there was only one X in India. In November 1966, one more X got added. It remained this way, till in November 2000, two more X's got added within a gap of 15 days. Hence, India now has 4 X's. What is the X I am talking about? -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 15:10, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Since no one has responded, here is Clue 1: Its related to geography and the third X was created by splitting the first X into two -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 04:40, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Indian States that do not touch the sea or any international border. These are: Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand. Kguneet 16:23, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

That was very good one, Kguneet! - KNM Talk 16:38, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
The question was really well thought of. I'll post the next one in the next few hours. Kguneet 04:36, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Q18

As the news spread, the creation got widely appreciated and got international acclaim. It is now the main tourist attraction of the city it is located in. What am I talking about? Kguneet 06:25, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

An year before her death, she had established a record in that country. Who is she? -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 06:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Yup, that was fast!! She is probably one of the few persons who has seen the entire 20th century. Over to you... -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 07:02, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
I was about to post the answer and got an edit conflict :(. Will wait for Amondal's question. Kguneet (talk) 07:08, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
I am very new to this quiz! Somebody please volunteer for me! Thanks in advance ... Amondal (talk) 07:21, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Q22

As requested by Amondal, I am volunteering...:

The record for this in Britain is held by a village on a Welsh island. The equivalent record in India is held by a village in Andhra Pradesh, near the Tamil Nadu border. What is the record and which are these villages? -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 10:15, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
The longest official place name. For UK it is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch and in India it is Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta. Kguneet (talk) 12:30, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, the names are correct. But I am not sure about the "longest official place name" part. I had something else in mind. If you have a citation that says that they are indeed the longest official places names in India, then the answer is yours. -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 12:40, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
The wikipedia article for the UK village says that it is the longest official name in UK and also the longest official railway station name. The article on the Indian village says its the longest name among all stations on the Indian Railway system. So probably the common record would be the longest name of a railway station in their respective countries? Kguneet (talk) 12:51, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Yup, that's correct. However, it would be interesting to find out the place which has the longest name in India. -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 15:14, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I also want to participate, I am already registered as sureshpurohit. can anybody guide me?

Suresh, I posted a reply at your talk page. I'll post the next question by today evening. Kguneet (talk) 06:52, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Q23

The title of this 2007 Bollywood movie song is taken from a word meaning "water" in a foreign language. The lead singer is also not an Indian. Identify the song and the singer. Kguneet (talk) 15:51, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

A random guess. Is it "Mayya" from Guru (2007 film)? The singer is Maryem Tollar.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:46, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
I am pretty sure that Dwaipayan has it right. Vignesh (talk) 01:33, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
That's the right answer, your turn Dwaipayan. Kguneet (talk) 09:30, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Q24

Kind of a weird question. This is a multi-step connect question. In the connection string I am thinking of, it has at least 3 degrees of separation.

Connect Don "The Dragon" Wilson->->->Swadeshi Jagaran Manch. --Dwaipayan (talk) 15:53, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Just a guess. Don "The Dragon" Wilson -> Martial Arts -> The "Shakhas" of RSS -> RSS -> Swadeshi Jagaran Manch Kguneet (talk) 06:08, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
No. I am giving a hint. This connection series is somehow related to question no. 23.--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:27, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Let me try. Don "The Dragon" Wilson -> Inferno (1997 film) -> Deepti Bhatnagar -> Miss India -> Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (opposed to beauty contests).? -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 14:02, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Not what I am thinking about. I am not sure if Swadeshi Jagaran Manch is noted for protest against Miss India contest. Will wait for better connection.
However, you are on track initially.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:07, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I think I got it. Don "The Dragon" Wilson -> Inferno (1997 film) -> R. Madhavan -> S. Gurumurthy -> Swadeshi Jagaran Manch. Madhavan's first film was Inferno and his character in Guru (2007 film) resembled S. Gurumurthy, in real life S. Gurumurthy is the convener of Swadeshi Jagran Manch -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 16:13, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Perfect. Your turn.--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:22, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Q25

India has till today established only 2 'X's. The first X had to be abandoned since it got buried, which left India with only 1 X. A third X is proposed to be established within the next 1 or 2 years. What is this X? -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 02:09, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Indian Antarctic Research Base Station ?? ... Amondal (talk) 03:10, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
That's an excellent answer Amondal. I had kept the question as abstract as possible but you were able to make the answer out. Over to you... -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 04:27, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Amarrg and thanks to google! My earlier request still holds... somebody please carry on the baton. -- Amondal (talk) 04:48, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
