Prasanna Vadanam is a 2024 Telugu-language action crime film written and directed by Arjun Y.K, produced by Manikanta J S and Prasad Reddy T.R. under the banner of Little Thoughts Cinemas with distribution handled by Hombale Films. It features Suhas, Payal Radhakrishna, Rashi Singh, Nandu, Viva Harsha, and Nitin Prasanna in lead roles.[1][2]

The music was composed by Vijay Bulganin, cinematography done by S. Chandrasekaran, along with editing by Karthika Srinivas. The film was theatrically released on 3 May 2024.[3][4]

Plot[edit]

The car in which Surya (Suhas), his parents and best friend Vignesh (Viva Harsha) are travelling is hit by a lorry. His parents die on the spot while Vignesh survives and an unconscious Surya is admitted to the hospital. After coming to a few days later, he fails to recognise the faces of his deceased parents and Vignesh, leading to his doctor to diagnose him with phonagnosia and prosopagnosia, also known as "face blindness".

A few years later, Surya witnesses a murder and anonymously reports it to the police. However, he is unable to identify the murderer due to his incurable conditions. Whether he helps bring the justice to the victim forms the rest of the story.

Prasanna Vadanam was theatrically released on 3 May 2024.[3] It began streaming on aha from 24 May 2024 onwards.[5]

Reception[edit]

BH Harsh of The New Indian Express rated this film 3.5 stars out of 5 stars and noted "Despite an occasional hiccup and a few logical loopholes, the narrative manages to keep us engaged due to this compelling cat-and-mouse dynamic between the good and the evil."[6] Paul Nicodemus of The Times of India rated this film 3.5 stars out of 5 stars and noted "The film's unique plot is its strength, although it could have benefited from a tighter edit to enhance its pace, particularly in the early sections of the second half."[7]

Anna Yashwanth of Deccan Chronicle rated this film 2.75 stars out of 5 stars and noted "For those who enjoy psychological depth and thrilling stories, Prasanna Vadanam is a movie worth watching."[8] Nelki Naresh Kumar of Hindustan Times Telugu rated this film 3 stars out of 5 stars and noted "Prasanna Vadanam is a crime thriller movie that covers the new Experience."[9]
