Playing career[edit]

Early life and high school[edit]

Colangelo was born on December 26, 2001, in Stoneham, Massachusetts.[1] In high school, he attended Lawrence Academy, where he played on the ice hockey team and scored 34 goals with 70 assists.[2]

Amateur[edit]

Colangelo played two seasons with the Chicago Steel in the United States Hockey League (USHL).[2] In his first season, he scored just three goals.[1] But in his second season he scored 28 goals with 30 assists.[1] Colangelo opted for the NHL draft.[3] He was drafted in the second-round, 36th overall, by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.[2][4]

Colangelo played three seasons of collegiate hockey at Northeastern University before entering the transfer portal after his Junior season. Moving to the Western Michigan Broncos for the 2023-24 season, Colangelo broke out offensively, finishing tied for fifth among NCAA leaders in goals, scoring a career-high 24 while setting single-season bests with 24 goals, 19 assists, for 43 points in 38 appearances.

Professional[edit]

Having concluded his senior year with the Broncos, Colangelo was originally signed to a professional try-out contract the Ducks AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, on April 2, 2024.[5] He made his professional debut with the Gulls and after 4 successful regular season games he was signed to a two-year, entry-level with the Anaheim Ducks on April 12, 2024.[6] Colangelo immediately joined the Ducks roster to conclude the 2023–24 season and scored his first goal in his NHL debut in a 6-3 defeat to the Calgary Flames on April 13, 2024.[7]
