Sam Dickinson (born June 7, 2006) is a Canadian ice hockey defenceman for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He is considered a top prospect eligible for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.[1]
Playing career[edit]
Dickinson played high school hockey at St. Michael's College School in Toronto.[2]
After being selected fourth overall in the 2022 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) draft by the Niagara IceDogs, the team was unable to secure a meeting with Dickinson's representation or family, and his OHL rights were traded to the London Knights in exchange for seven draft picks.[3] Although he was also selected in the United States Hockey League draft by the Chicago Steel,[4] he ultimately chose to sign with London.[5]
In his first year of major junior play, the 2022–23 season, Dickinson recorded nine goals and 23 points in 62 regular season games. In 21 playoff games, he added four goals and eight points as the Knights made the finals of the Memorial Cup, after which he returned to Toronto to train with St. Michael's.[6][7] He was named to the OHL First All-Rookie Team following the season.[7]
Dickinson was named OHL player of the week for the week starting January 1, 2024.[8] He was named captain of Team Red at the 2024 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.[9]

Dickinson captained Team Canada Black at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge, registering a goal and an assist in seven games and received tournament all-star honours.[10]
Dickinson won a gold medal at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he was the alternate captain of Team Canada.[8]
