Move proposal[edit]

The actor's correct name is Élizabeth Bourgine, with an acute accent on the initial letter, and I propose to move the article there, providing a redirect from Elizabeth Bourgine (compare Matsuo Basho), in accordance with WP:TITLEFORMAT, where we read:

  • Characters not on a standard keyboard (use redirects): Sometimes the most appropriate title will contain diacritics (accent marks), dashes, or other letters and characters not found on most English-language keyboards. This can make it difficult to navigate to the article directly. In such cases, provide redirects from versions of the title that use only standard keyboard characters.

Are there any other considerations before I go ahead with this move? --gråb whåt you cån (talk) 18:48, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • This article come from French wikipedia and they don't include the accent, see Elizabeth Bourgine. They do in the infobox and main body.REVUpminster (talk) 22:14, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • PS looking at French wikipedia, they do use accents with redirects from non accented names. It looks like the french wiki page needs correcting.REVUpminster (talk) 22:30, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I reckon you're right. I'll move this one now. --gråb whåt you cån (talk) 23:47, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

French doesn't have accents on capital letters.Vince Calegon 12:01, 8 October 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vince Calegon (talkcontribs)

I said the above (earlier alias) because I had read it emphatically stated in a French grammar decades ago, but it's not looking so clear now. French wiki has both accented and unaccented, and I've just seen a violin with a label inside that says BRETON BREVETÉ Fuficius Fango (talk) 08:59, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
