Region?[edit]

  • original move request:[1]

Pinging Janitoalevic. According to http://www.latercera.com/noticia/firma-bachelet-hoy-nace-region-nuble/, via Google translate:

"At 18:30 the President will formalize in Chillán the decree that creates the new territorial division, which will enter into regime from September 2018. With signature of Bachelet today is born Region of Ñuble"

So I wonder if this article move was premature? -- Begoon 07:58, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the move as I agree it was premature. I think we should also revert the changes in the article from Province to Region, to be consistent with that. We can definitely put a section in the article saying "this will become Ñuble Region in 2018" etc etc. ♠PMC(talk) 08:03, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. I'll revert those for now, pending this discussion. The article does mention the upcoming change. That could be copyedited and expanded as you say. I think a reference saying the decree "was" formalized , rather than "will be" formalized would be preferable to cite that though, so I'll leave as is for now. -- Begoon 08:09, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging: Begoon & Premeditated Chaos
The article says "At 18:30 the President will formalize in Chillán the decree that creates the new territorial division, which will enter into regime from September 2018." That means that the region was created yesterday, and the process of implementation (de facto) starts now and ends in 2018
This also appears in another article
"...To this end, the government decided to hold a ceremony with the characteristics of a "citizen party", which was attended by over 2 thousand people who will witness the beginning of the political and administrative change that will begin this Saturday and will last for about a year."[1]
Also the President said "Here we are, to celebrate because, today, Ñuble is a region! "[2]
This means the region was created, exists (de iure), but it's in process of implementation (de facto) that will end in 2018, so, the article should be called Ñuble Region.

After some research, you are right, we need to wait until the region is fully implemented (2018).-- Janitoalevic (talk) 23:05, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Janitoalevic - well, that's not such a bad thing, because changes will need to be made to many linked articles, not just this one, and that will take some effort. Since you seem the closest to the issue I wonder if it might be a good idea for you to post the information and research results which you have at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chile. That project doesn't seem very active lately, but there might be a few editors watching who could help with preparing, co-ordinating and implementing the required changes, when the time comes. -- Begoon 00:35, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In the meantime I made a small copyedit [2] to update the status of the upcoming change, incorporating your references. Thanks. -- Begoon 09:43, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A new article should be created for the region, and get this one updated as a historical province of Chile instead of simply getting it renamed. --201.215.141.30 (talk) 03:29, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
