Untitled 2007 topic[edit]

This is an advertising. Global domains should only be mentioned by name as the provider, and nothing else.

I think.................... it deserves a page. Just watched (blocked website)
Should be written in the article, that GDI has actually setup multilevel marketing on the .ws domain. Fishy.

See website.ws, freedom.ws

There's definitely something suspicious going on with .ws. I used to own a high traffic domain name (superman.ws, which is linked to from numerous places throughout the net), until it suddenly transfered ownership. .ws claimed they had never been notified of my renewal by my registrar and that I would not be able to get the name back. It now serves advertisements. Macduff 00:56, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Western Sahara?[edit]

The official website of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is: http://www.rasd-state.ws/

It is not (anymore). This domain is now controlled by the Moroccan CORCAS. -- Cghost (talk) 13:57, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does this mean that the Western Saharan entity had to pay money to the government of Samoa in order to be able to use the .ws domain? BomBom (talk) 14:47, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This Article should describe the .ws domain only and not be used as an Advertisement "or a Trusted validation" of GDI claims.

GDI Rep[edit]

GDI this is not an advertisement meduim. I will personaly monitor this wiki to prevent you from turning this into an ad for you Company. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ClarenceCM3 (talkcontribs) 00:50, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Registers are not marketing .ws as Web site, world site, etc. Only one single Company GDI is marketing it as that. I personally think reference to .ws standing for world site or web site should be removed. it's GDI Marketing and not the true nature of the .ws domain. I can say pi stand for Personal income, and sell personal income site, but pi is not a domain for personal income.

A GDI rep is using this wiki to validate their marketing claim. goto www.freedom.ws. They have an MLM program around the use of the .ws domain. In their marketing they try and persuade potential get rich quick candidates that .ws stands for Web site or world site, and they try and sale you the domain for 10 bucks a month. then get you to spam all of you friend so they can get they own sites with claims that you earn residual income if you friend sign up for their own domain. They also claim that you can buy domain or popular site name, and maybe later resale them for top dollar. it's a true Get rich quick scam, and this wiki is being exploited to prove that claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ClarenceCM3 (talkcontribs) 19:39, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The information above (under the title "GDI Rep") is simply from a previous GDI customer that must have failed miserably in the marketing program. For that reason, he/she is posting incorrect information about GDI and also on the wrong article. This article is about the .WS TLD, not GDI. This is a Wiki site, not complaint site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.20.51.10 (talk) 10:32, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Information[edit]

Most of the previous information contained in this article was incorrect and seems to match the work of one or more unhappy/misinformed members (possibly even previous customers of GDI), who seemed to be focused and geared towards misconstruing the view of the company Global Domains International rather than actually focusing on providing readers with useful information regarding the .ws TLD. I think all readers would agree that, like all Wikipedia articles, this article should be SPAM free from all of GDI members advertisements but at the same time it should also be free from all incorrect, misconstrued, and miscategorized information. If anything, a page completely dedicated to Global Domains International should be created where all users can read and post more accurate information (negative or positive) regarding that company rather than having them post here. Western Samoa, not Samoa[edit]

The .ws TLD was awarded to Western Samoa, not the whole Samoa. There is also American Samoa which has been awarded the TLD .as. That should be made clear in this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.222.18.94 (talk) 05:55, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

samoanic.ws vs website.ws[edit]

`samoanic.ws` and `website.ws` are the same.

See www.website.ws/utilities/samoanic_aboutus.dhtml and samoanic.ws/utilities/samoanic_aboutus.dhtml

I removed the `Website.ws confusion` section . 218.103.114.193 (talk) 04:12, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Applying for a domain at samoanic.ws involves registration through website.ws

No mention of Unicode support?[edit]

The .ws TLD is notable in that it allows Unicode, not just ASCII, in the domain name, including emoji. Some other TLDs allow this, but not most, so it's still notable. 108.18.244.97 (talk) 00:08, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Filenames[edit]

WS (or .WS) is the extension used by word processor WordStar for saving documents. It should get a mention ! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.225.0.33 (talk) 14:44, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
