scoring leaders[edit]

On IIHF pages we list the top ten scorers: (1986,1987,1989). That is just three relevant examples out of hundreds that are the same. There is a reason, a 'top ten' listing is notable, hard to find people talk about the best 11 or 12 but it is possible so please explain where. Additionally the IIHF has a specific method of determining their ranking: [1]. Note the explanation, "ranked by PTS/highest G/lowest GP" and also observe the difference between the tie for ninth and then eleventh placed Arnasson. If there is a notable reason that this particular championship should be different, please indicate how and/or why. Please stick to facts without any accusations.18abruce (talk) 01:57, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The hockey hall of fame makes draws attention to the fact that this is his only WC appearance, that would be a notable addition that could be worked on.18abruce (talk) 21:52, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And of how many other players could that be said? Ravenswing 14:26, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I get where you're coming from, but in this case, Lemieux is near-universally considered one of the greatest ever; I think a prose mention is more than appropriate. The Kip 00:41, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And I don't think it is. There are many great players who only made a single appearance in a championship, or a Cup final, or the Olympics, and we don't spam the articles with citing that. A mention on their own articles is sufficient. Making an unique mention of Lemieux here isn't any different from the IP insistence that he should be in the leading scorers' table, just because. Lemieux doesn't make the cut, as he's the 11th player in the scoring list. Same amount of goals & assists at the tenth player, but the tie-breaker, is the tenth player has a higher +/- stat. Not sure why the IP was putting Lemieux in tenth place. GoodDay (talk) 13:33, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also quite comfortable with Lemieux not making the cut, as indeed, he didn't make the cut. Ravenswing 14:27, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • The IP hit again, and I not only reverted, but reported the IP at AIV, seeking both a rangeblock and semi-protection. Ravenswing 07:45, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The report was dropped as stale and not acted on.18abruce (talk) 19:50, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
