Peacock-Howard rivalry article[edit]

This may not be the right place to ask this but why isn't there an article on the Peacock-Howard rivalry.

I think this should be rectified.

Possible points to cover should include how the rivalry started and even after Peacock resigned as leader for the final time in 1990, Peacock still exercised his influence in the partyroom by supporting Hewson and then Downer to stop Howard from returning.

It was only when Peacock retired that Howard was able to return to the leadership.

Howard subsequently as PM appointed Peacock as Ambassador to the United States.49.3.72.79 (talk) 08:01, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt a separate, stand-alone article on the Peacock-Howard rivalry would be necessary, and I don't think there are any such articles for other famous leadership rivalries throughout Australian political history - though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this. However, I would be in full agreement on the inclusion of sections to do with the Peacock-Howard rivalry on this page, as well as other relevant leadership spill articles - in general as well I think nearly all of these articles need to be greatly expanded. It seems to me that if this rivalry had taken place in US or British politics there would no doubt be an article on it. Instead it doesn't qualify simply because it did not take place in the right part of the world. 49.3.72.79 (talk) 04:51, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
