Rewriting the article[edit]

Many of the phrases currently in the article are wrong and misleading, for example:

  1. Because of a conflict of ideology between Seyyed Ruhollah Khomeini and Housein Al-Montazeri, his accepted heir, Khomeini requested a revision of Article 109 This is not mentioned in the source. The conflict was not ideological, it was rather political.
  2. The Assembly of Experts at the time was widely made up of the Islamic Republic Party members who generally followed Khomeini's leadership. Not in the source. Plus, Islamic Republic Party was dissolved two years earlier in 1987 and could not play a role in 1989.
  3. Ali Khamenei was running against Mohammad-Reza Golpaygani, a distinguished Grand Ayatollah. The source does not mention Golpaygani. And noone was "running against" anybody. Two candidates were brought up and voted separately.
  4. The Assembly of Experts, made up of many people who were integral to the revolution of 1979 Not in the source cited. All of Assembly of Experts members were always integral to the revolution, nothing especial.

A section is dedicated to the video leaked in 2018. The content of that video is absolutely important but the video itself is not worth having a dedicated section, because it is a historical event. Its content should be moved elsewhere. Pahlevun (talk) 22:38, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Did Khamenei age play any role?[edit]

The article doesn’t say, but it is evident that he was the youngest of all proposed candidates. 82.36.70.45 (talk) 17:32, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
