Against speedy deletion[edit]

I strongly disagree with the speedy tag on this article. Discussing an historical election in a major city is certainly within Wikipedia's purview. CJCurrie 05:32, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strong Keep Winnipeg, Manitoba is a major city in Canada. I don't know if other cities have pages like this but the notability is implicit. --Walter Görlitz 05:34, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously I disagree. A major city Winnipeg may be, but civic election articles are bordering on electioncruft, imo. My larger problem is that there is no context to this article. It happened. Ok, so what? What else can be said about this (or 99% of any civic election articles) that is encyclopedic? Anyway, I'll pull the speedy tag, but I may choose to take it to AfD for concensus at some future point. Resolute 06:00, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?[edit]

Is this article ever likely to grow with enough encyclopaedic detail to make it more than a stub? If not, it should be merged into its most obvious 'parent' article: Winnipeg Government. Thoughts? --ⁿɡ͡b Nick Boalch\talk 09:16, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Or perhaps an article like Winnipeg municipal elections, which can contain all elections? Resolute 15:14, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That would be a useful way of going about it, yes. --ⁿɡ͡b Nick Boalch\talk 15:45, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fully Agree. --Walter Görlitz 17:12, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problem with a merge, although I'd add one caveat: if the information on this page ever grows to the point where it obviously deserves its own article, it should be de-merged. CJCurrie 23:31, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are several articles on Winnepeg's municipal elections. See the Wikipedia Search on the subjectKville105125 18:23, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just discovered a List of municipal elections in Winnipeg... merge the articles there? Kville105125 18:27, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
