Requested move[edit]

Before I put in a formal request to move (and since few editors of this page read the talk page at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football), I would like to open discuss about renaming the page here first. The main goal of moving the page is to put the year in front as per consensus here. The only problem is what format to have the league's name as. There are 4 options that I see.

  1. 2009-10 Primera División de Argentina season
  2. 2009-10 Primera División Argentina season
  3. 2009-10 Primera División season (Argentina)
  4. 2009-10 Argentine Primera División season

Number 1 & 3 make the most sense, in my opinion. #2 is might be confusing in this case since people who do not know Spanish think "Argentina" refers to the country when it actually is Spanish for "Argentine". I have doubts about #4 since it combines both English and Spanish words. If any one is the most correct form as per the MOS, it is probably #3... But let's open this up for discussion and come to a practical consensus and apply the new format to other South American leagues. Digirami (talk) 20:49, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

#1 is a rather uncommon way of refering to the Argentine tournament (at least here in Argentina). Moreover it has the same translation problem that you mentioned for #2. Between the others I believe #4 is the most adecuate. --Fache (talk) 00:37, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
for me #4 is the best option, although I think the discussion should include all the other season articles in order to maintain consistency. King of the North East 12:26, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see how #1 has the same translation problem as #2. In #1, "Argentina" refers to the name of the country, quite clearly. #2 translates to "Argentine", but non-Spanish speaker might think it refers to the name of the country. That's why, if anything, #2 presents the most problems translating.
I think it should included all other articles too. But since this is the most visible of the Primera Division because it is current, I started it in this talk page. Digirami (talk) 01:17, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2010 Copa Libertadores berth[edit]

I just want to bring it to everyone's attention that if Velez or Estudiantes win the Apertura, the runner-up or best-placed team in the tournament will not get that 2010 Copa Libertadores berth. Should Velez or Estudiantes win the Apertura, all remaining Copa Libertadores berths will be determined through the averaging table. To find more information, read the 2008-09 season regulations. Thanks. Digirami (talk) 23:00, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
