Has anybody else out there spotted the error in the official program? Carlos Sastre's picture on the profile of Gerd Steegmans Rather amusingly dreadful. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 08:43, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Necessary improvements[edit]

  • The lead needs to be expanded. It doesn't necessarily need to be longer than it currently is, but it needs to be more comprehensive. That is, some mention of Allan Davis would probably be a good idea.
  • The {{ct}} template needs to be used anytime a ProTour team's name is used ( Done) (unsure if UniSA works as a link for the Australian national team). It would also help if the infobox had an image.
    • I think at this stage UniSA should be a redlink or have a page created for the team, as it should have independent notability of both the Uni and the TDU. Apterygial 11:05, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Stage profiles need to be expanded to include descriptive prose of the courses themselves, and at least a single paragraph describing what took place when the actual stage was run. Images are a nice bonus.
    • I could probably try to do this. If we can't find pictures from the race day itself, I can go out and get pictures of the terrain. Apterygial 11:05, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The tables need to be expanded to ten riders for stage results and intermediate GC. This is standard across all stage race articles. Both of these are largely exemplified by 2009 Tour de Suisse, though I'd like that article to have at least one or two images.
  • Cell highlighting to indicate jerseys has been deprecated - we now use the jersey icons, like File:Jersey_yellow.svg and the other colors. Jersey icons need to be added to the infobox as well.
  • Classification leadership table is ok where it is in the article, but the top row should not contain color, and the bottom row should be a shade darker than the inside. Also, the stage winner should be put into its own cell. The table section also needs some explanatory prose as to what each jersey represents. Who wore the points jersey when Davis wore the GC jersey should be noted as well.
  • Teams don't have nationalities. This is widespread WP:CYC consensus, and while I don't necessarily agree, I'll enforce it. Even if they did have nationalities, listing them with just a flag is 110% the wrong way to do it.
  • It looks like inclusion of points earned toward the 2009 UCI World Ranking is pretty standard in other Rankings races. We can easily do that here, too.

So, quite a bit of work is required, but this article can definitely be improved. Let's get to it. Alex finds herself awake at night (Talk · What keeps her up) 03:06, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Should be a bit of fun. Apterygial 11:05, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
