[edit]

I just upload the logo for the games (File:Roma09.jpg). Does anyone know a suitable place to put it? I've been trying but I'm not getting any luck.--Philipmj24 (talk) 03:29, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Schedule finals[edit]

Dear all, I want to know what do you think about making the schedule of this championships like the 2008 Summer Olympics one or like the it.wiki one with all the dots visible per every final. Bye --LuckyzTell Me 07:39, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea, i wanted to do it earlier but forgot ( 10:01, 28 July 2009 (UTC))

Technological changes[edit]

Evolution in swimming suit didn't begin in this competion. In Beijing, Speedo LZR Racer was a big advantaged for USA team. See: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2008/06/high-tech-swims/ http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/12/indifferent-swimmers-break-8-world-records-while-whining-about-s/ http://www.universalsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=23000&ATCLID=1483228

I think the current article is tendencious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.221.128.129 (talk) 14:34, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree about the tech change part not being neutral. Phelps won a gold metal and world in his "old" suit during these games. So his suit is apparently not a fatal drawback on performance. If he got beat then this might have been a consequence of him only being in training again for a limited time after his timeout and ban. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.75.201.188 (talk) 20:24, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Celebration?[edit]

I don't think that World Championships or Olympic Games are "celebrated". The closest a dictionary comes to "celebrating" is "To observe an occasion with appropriate ceremony or festivity.".

Sure, there is ceremony and festivity. But things like World Championships or Olympic Games are HARDLY celebrated. There is a VERY tough competition and a LOT of hostility. It's a competition. Competitions are "held", NOT "celebrated".

It's a COMPETITION. To the bone. A "celebration", to me, means that everyone enjoys it... . Need I say more?

An encyclopedia is to give the facts. Not to give "nice words". An encylopedia should say that someone "died", not "passed away". No weasel words.

World Championships and Olympics are NOT celebrated. They are the toughest and most ruthless competitions in the world. To use the word "celebrate" is just another weasel word.

No celebration. Olympic Games and World Championships are HELD, not CELEBRATED. Call things as they are. Don't use weasel words. 68.200.98.166 (talk) 01:30, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Miscalculation South Africa in the medal table.[edit]

Hello,

I think the total medals of South Africa is wrong. Only one gold medal for this country and not two.

Friendly.
