Squad numbers for new players are not available yet

I don't know who put the squad numbers for the newly transferred players, but according the the Real Madrid website's squad list, the new players don't have numbers yet. I put N/A for the startup. Can someone confirm those numbers if they do exist? Georgexu316 (talk) 03:28, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

The numbers for newly transferred members and the ones who elected to change numbers are not official yet for the La Liga season. However, those are the numbers they wore during the two preseason matches against America and LA Galaxy so presumably they reflect the actual forthcoming squad numbers. Last year, the preseason assignments were identical to the actual league assignments except when after Robben departed, a few of the new transfers switched numbers with Benzema occupying Robben's 11. Furthermore, this year Ronaldo and Arbeloa publicly stated their desires to switch to 7 and 17 respectively. Note that Arbeloa made a similar switch from 2 to 17 back at Liverpool. Of course none of this is official yet, but I strongly recommend keeping the preseason list for now until the official numbers are released.Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 04:23, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Stop changing stuff

The starting 11 isn't decided yet, so stop changing names of players that had few caps last season. --Ein Striker (talk) 23:08, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Khedira should be listed in the starting XI alongside Alonso. XavierHD (talk) 12:18, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Transfer of Youth Players

Should Castilla players with first team caps be listed under the transfer section? So far this summer, Marcos Alonso, Miguel Palanca, Marcos Tébar, and Pedro Mosquera all fit under this category. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 03:38, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

No, I think they should be listed under Castilla. I will edit the reserve team pages to reflect those players' transfers. Only Adán should be listed if he moves from th club. Raul17 (talk) 14:35, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Can we protect this article?

There is a lot of speculation, fake transfers and incredible edits like all that 91.104.240.89 did today. And this won't stop untill 31 august i suppose. XavierHD (talk) 00:46, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

I don't think this article needs protection just yet. The vandalism level isn't particularly high, and the majority of unregistered users at least seem to be trying to make constructive edits, albeit some edits end out destructive. For the most part there is very little vandalism on this page for the sake of vandalism. As for speculation, the constantly "updated" and wonderfully entertaining Starting 11 section is really nothing but speculation until Aug 31 anyway ;-) Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 04:37, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Long term injuries

I noticed that Kaka is the only player listed under this category but shouldn't Rubén de la Red also be listed as he is still considered a Real Madrid player? I know he has a heart condition but he has not retired from play so I think it's a fair question.--Spartan008 (talk) 01:41, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

And his contract does not expire until Jluy 1, 2013. Raul17 (talk) 16:31, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
He was removed from the squad list though so I don't think he qualifies as a player for Real Madrid anymore, just more or less an employee. Even if he were to return he wouldn't be able to play, at least not this season. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 19:10, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

David Mateos

Shouldn't David Mateos be included in the list of transfers who came in? He got promoted from Real Madrid B so it should be a transfer in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.135.123.143 (talk) 19:54, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Game formations

I was wondering what is the source for starting formation. The 4-3-3 is posted as the formation in the first game, but three sites have Madrid playing a 4-2-3-1:

Raul17 (talk) 12:24, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

The game may have transitioned to a 4-2-3-1 during the later stages, but I'm using the starting formation graphic from the universal television feed as the starting formation. You can see it here.Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 20:03, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad (18 September 2010)

According to UEFA (see here and here ) and Real Madrid , Ronaldo was the one who scored the goal against Real Sociedad. I'm a little confused on that, so is it Pepe or Ronaldo? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.91.223.249 (talk) 03:35, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

RFEF's official match report for that game says Pepe scored that goal. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 00:44, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Regarding Özil

I had edited Mesut Özil's second nationality segment to show his Turkish nationality but I see now that it has been changed. Can someone please tell me why? Mesut Özil has a second nationality, and it's Turkish... He was eligible for the Turkish national football team until he picked Germany. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.10.236.26 (talk) 09:10, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Based on my research, Özil was born in Germany to German parents and does not hold a Turkish passport. He was eligible under FIFA to play for Turkey because his ancestors originated from Turkey. However, being eligible to play for a country is not the same as holding a passport from that country. If Özil picked Turkey, he would still have to become a naturalized Turkish citizen before he could play for the national team. His situation is similar to Benzema's second nationality not being Algerian or Khedira'a not being Tunisian. Hope this clarifies! Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 07:12, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm afraid you're quite wrong. His father and mother were born in Turkey and are Turkish citizens, thus making him a Turkish citizen as well. I'm quite familiar of the procedure because my cousins are in a similar situation. My uncle and aunt, both Turkish-born, met in Germany while working there and my cousins were born there. They have Turkish passports. Özil's parents are not German-born, they are Turks who migrated to Germany when West Germany demanded workers. Look at the Altıntop brothers, Nuri Şahin or more recently, Mehmet Ekici. None had to be naturalised, they just made a choice. Mesut has a Turkish nationality. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.160.227.36 (talk) 18:13, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
According to the bild.de article referenced on his wiki page, Mesut is a third-generation German and specifically mentioned that it was his grandparents who migrated to Germany from Turkey. However ESPN's profile does state his parents are Turkish-born, so I think you're right about him inheriting Turkish citizenship. That bild article further says:

"Im November 2007 beantragte Özil, der bisher einen türkischen und einen deutschen Pass hatte, die Entlassung aus der türkischen Staatsbürgerschaft."

which Google translates to:

"In November 2007, requested Özil, who had been a Turkish and a German passport, the dismissal of Turkish citizenship."

From that translation it sounds like he indeed holds both passports. I stand corrected! Thank you very much for clarifying this topic. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 19:32, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Proposal

Hello to all of the works on this page

I have a suggestion beautiful

Is to put games in detail under the tables which are now in (Matches)

An example of what I mean

Is not important who will work where you are I'm going to work, but I told myself that the debate in this best of his work directly

What do you think? محمد البكور (talk) 01:30, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

I prefer this proposed template over our current one except for two minor details. First, this doesn't have a parameter for Man of the Match. Second, there seems to be an extra line when collapsed, which can be aesthetically displeasing when 38 of these are stacked together. If we can add a motm and shorten the collapsed height of the template by about half I wouldn't mind implementing this. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 06:44, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

correctly that the current model smooth over my proposal, but currently there are no details of the matches where he can not recognize the registrars goals every game, or obtaining the cards yellow or red or even the referee and the number fans and other things, Regarding your suggestion about the Thumbnail size Is it that you can show us an example of what you mean?! and I am willing to work all the matches if this table or as you say another table. Thank you محمد البكور (talk) 23:47, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Notice how there is excessive space in the collapsed display of each game. When stacked, like below, the space adds up and may produce an unnecessarily long page.

However, that extra space is only a minor concern to me since the Matches section is at the bottom of the page anyway. Also, I just went ahead and added the Man of the Match parameter to the template. So if nobody is opposed to this proposed design, I will implement it to our Matches before this weekend's match vs. Athletic Bilbao. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 04:36, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

very good, before Athletic Bilbao match will be ready, and you only judged. as you said, its presence in the bottom of the page will come out of the problems the contrary, we will provide more of the missing information, which does not exist now. thank you for debate beautiful. محمد البكور (talk) 01:58, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Here's the Copa del Rey implementation. Looks good right?
A few things. Since a location parameter is provided within the template, I chose to use it with the stadium. It appears the whitespace problem with the {{sentoff}} can't be manually fixed with spaces anymore. I removed the parentheses from "Report" because I think it looks better that way, and the example in the template documentation does not contain them either. The example also kept the timezone, so I did the same. Using |stack = yes makes this smooth, avoiding the obscure triple line Barcelona's page currently has. Good idea with using the referee's provincial flag instead of Spanish flag. I think this all looks pretty good and we're ready for an overhaul. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 05:18, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

ok, will be the implementation of all requested محمد البكور (talk) 13:17, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

your work is certainly better

your work is certainly better, but I want you to teach me some things

1 - where can I find the flags of Spanish cities? Because I put pictures not flags

2 - i want the source, who put the man of the match ؟

3 - i want to source the number of the fans because I see that the my exporter is not accurate

4 - i want you to tell me when I played the last match summer time so me do not sinned in the development of Time

During the two days will be completed every matches محمد البكور (talk) 21:17, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

1 - Do not use the flag of the city for the referee. Instead use the flag of the Spanish autonomous community they are from. Just use {{flagicon|Autonomous community}}. For example, {{flagicon|Basque Country}} or {{flagicon|Andalusia}}.

2 - The match reports on realmadrid.com provides the man of the match. Click on Report in one of my examples and you find it for the respective match. For example, for Round 3 vs Real Sociedad, you can find it here.

3 - In the current version, the source is between <ref>...</ref> after the attendance.

{{fb cm1 match

4 - Round 9 was the last match for summer time. Round 10 was the first match for regular CET.

Hope this helps! Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 21:55, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Very good

now, the final work will be at the bottom

If you want the amendment to the adjusted some things on my work and do not put another table

I'm working tables and you modify it or because the page was corrected by long محمد البكور (talk) 22:39, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Wonderful wonderful wonderful

That I will not mind the work of the Champions League matches and preparations on the same page

And you add them to the home page

You are a Wonderful محمد البكور (talk) 23:46, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

New proposal

The idea of a new and distinct

They put the flags of Spanish provinces next to the names of clubs

I do not think one has the

But present in the Real Madrid basketball

Example

4 September, 2010
18:00 CET
Power Electronics Valencia Valencian Community 68–78 Community of Madrid Real Madrid
Scoring by half: 29–44, 39–34
Pts: Šundov 19 Pts: Mirotić 22
I'm not sure if the flags are entirely necessary. No other club's season page uses local flags for domestic competition. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 19:01, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

This is what I mean exactly, that all the other pages where not there are flags of the provinces next to the names of Spanish clubs, let's races in their aesthetic and will give more to the table, proposed work and you freedom of choice.

Now put the tables in the main page, look at them and make your edits, I had a small problem which is next to the word Last updated show |} did not know how removed.

Is another, regarding the word next to the 1st Group Stage of the Champions League for what removed them, give the possibility Putting know the status of the team in the group without taking to the bottom, I thought it a good idea.

Already now the form page looks great

Thank you very much for the great response and I hope that you ponder the issue of flags because it would be beautiful. محمد البكور (talk) 19:53, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

new idea

now brought to a new job

he posts to the players with their national teams

you can continue to work in my Sandbox and supervise the same time محمد البكور (talk) 03:08, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

I feel this is unnecessary information since it focuses on each player's individual endeavors and not on the 2010–11 Real Madrid season. We want this page to be about matters relating to Real Madrid as a team.
Also this isn't convention among season articles of football teams, which I think is important. The ultimate goal here is to have all season pages follow an identical structure across Wikipedia. This is why I oppose the addition of regional flags for domestic matches and the inclusion of Group Stage (1st). Because the information is not vital to the page, there is no need to break conventions already set to include them. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 04:33, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

well, as you like

i have deleted Group Stage (1st) and will not put the flags of Spanish provinces

but the posts about the players with their national teams, this is a beautiful thing because they are playing for our team, and believe me add this information will give that extra edge of the page.

i hope that you agree, and will not add anything without your consent محمد البكور (talk) 14:58, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Cristiano 15 Goals

This site LIGA BBVA say Cristiano has 15 goals not 14 and this is a target Sociedad calculated for Ronaldo, not for Pepe (http://www.ligabbva.com/co00/) What do you think? محمد البكور (talk) 18:59, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

The match report awards the goal to Pepe. Also, this video on ligabbva.com has Ronaldo on 11 before the Bilbao match. Here's a video of the goal in question. The ball clearly hits Pepe. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 20:29, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

Ronaldo is playing LW, di Maria RW

Under Mourinho, this season with other words, Ronaldo plays as a left winger; di Maria as a right winger most of the times. Why are Ronaldo defined here as LW and di Maria RW? — Preceding unsigned comment added by IRISZOOM (talkcontribs) 18:52, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

UPDATE. I meant, why are Ronaldo defined here as RW and di Maria LW? — Preceding unsigned comment added by IRISZOOM (talkcontribs) 18:56, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

The Starting 11 section reflects the two players' positions for this season. I am in favor of keeping Ronaldo as RW and di Maria as LW for the other sections as those reflect the natural positions of the players. Xboxandhalo2 (talk) 19:28, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Supercopa de España (2011)

Hey guys, does the 2011 Supercopa de España qualify into being in the 2010/11 season or 2011/12 season? It will be played against Real Madrid and Barcelona, a two-legged match on August 7-14 this summer. Should it be added to this season or could someone create the 2011-12 Real Madrid C.F. season and put the section there. Thanks --212.198.219.76 (talk) 12:17, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Mesut Özil again

He has relinquished is Turkish citizenship and as such it's not his second nationality. See http://www.atlantic-times.com/archive_detail.php?recordID=2292 and many other refs. As for his club number, they gave him 10 last summer as well and then settled on 23 in the season.
