Please give information when changing table[edit]

When the table is being changed, please give information to back up your changes. Earlier today, a gold was added for India when it wasn't on the official table, nor on the page for India at the Games, nor on the table on a major TV channel. Please include informative edit summaries, and preferably a reference to a WP:RS, so that we can see which event is being added. David Biddulph (talk) 05:59, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is users are updating as soon as the event is finished and medal ceremony happen. Rather, I suggest to update the table at the end of the day when the Official Source itself is updated. Just yesterday one user updated Malaysia's gold without the rank and another user updated ranking in order of total number of medals rather than gold. Yours truly was at fault. I second the end of the day updating of the table, however the updating would be done simultaneously by many at that time, won't it? It is worrying that the official medal table seems very unreliable. It doesn't agree with data on the CWG front page, nor is the data consistent when following down to the nations from the official medal table. Another thing that adds to the confusion is when the official website has multiple entries for the same medal on the country pages. Medal Tally inaccurate[edit]

It was discussed that the only page that should be used to update the medal tally is the official tally found at http://results.cwgdelhi2010.org/en/Root.mvc/Medals. Any other references should be ignored. The medal table is not updated at the conclusion of a race/event/final/gold medal round. The table is updated once the event has been finalised by the umpire and the medals have been presented to the players. This is when the wiki table will be updated.

By using other sources (outside of the official medal tally will result in a poor quality of information as the sources are reporting on person A receiving a medal before it has been confirmed by the commonwealth games committee. This is why the official medal tally is the only reference on this page.

Well done on missing the point. It's not an opinion that the official tale is incorrect - as has been evidenced above by David, it is fact. Deliberately adding this information we know is false is not acceptable on Wikipedia. Per our verifiability policy, Jimmy Wales once said: "zero information is preferred to misleading or false information" (albeit in a different context, it applies just as much here). The Times of India and CBC sports are using the same medals. There tables are backed up by the individual result tallies. It appears that the official website is being extremely slow in updating their results; the Times of India had a story on this yesterday or a day before. Medals counted multiple times[edit]

As David Biddulph has mentioned above, the 2010 official site conains many multiple medals, and sometimes isn't counting them at all. For example, England have won five golds but are only listed with four, while Singapore have only won two but are listed with five (a quick check of the nation page shows the women's pairs rifle 50m three pos counting four times. Consider other sources such as BBC Sport[edit]

You may wish to consider other sources which are generally reliable, such as BBC Sport (they published a medal table for CWG 2010 as well). And we can state in the article that we sourced the info from BBC Sport. So even if they are inaccuracies here and there, Wikipedia's factual accuracy is not compromised (since we're depending on a highly reliable news source). It looks as if they've done some tweaks today to the official CWG site. It no longer links to the separate nation pages. The front page is telling a slightly different story from the medals page, probably not as up-to-date, but they are both looking a bit more credible now. Basically, we need to treat all the info with caution, and check everything we can. Hopefully the info for the different sports, & for the different nations, will give us opportuntities to cross-check when in doubt. Accuracy[edit]

Use this source [2]. Sydney Morning Herald is 100% accurate.

Singapore is stated to have 5 gold medals in the official website, while the Sydney Morning Herald gives 2 only. It's a vast difference; I don't know which is the right value. ANGCHENRUI Talk♨ 14:01, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To double check, visit the nations's page, for example Singapore, which right now says two gold medals. National pages are accurate. The official 2010 games web site has problems so don't use that. Due to technical difficulties,the official website is not able to update the medals tally properly. Accuracy[edit]

I notice {{Accuracy}} has been removed. Have all the issues regarding accuracy and sourcing been resolved? This article has had 500 edits or so in the past week; which is good, but can I as a reader trust the article? If it's so, that's great. ANGCHENRUI WP:MSE♨ 05:19, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Medal Tally Accuracy[edit]

The medal tally for India and England are not correct. Official Site and Medal Tally at BBC Sport clearly show that India finished at second spot with 38 gold medals ahead of England's 37. The medal tally table currently points to a source that does not work. CGF code[edit]

Hi, is there any reason why the CGF codes are not displayed in the table (see below for example)?
