Really not worth an encyclopedia article[edit]

Shouldn't what little of this has substance be in the general article for the team?Borgmcklorg (talk) 11:35, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted because... the season scores have been updated. But kindly add information on how the Rangers fared in the month of May, just to keep updated. --Ralphierce (talk) 11:51, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nicely put. Question: Does every team in a major soccer league in Europe, the NHL, the NFL, or even cricket clubs (playing a far more popular sport on a world scale) get to have season by season articles? Doesn't appear to be so. The information should be in an expandable box or similar on the page for the team (vanishingly few people who are neither born nor resident in Texas care about them). Not to say it's not information, but also easy to suspect someone is being paid for this, especially with baseball having the most bloated budgets of all sports.Borgmcklorg (talk) 13:19, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I did not delete the article, because the reason given were invalid. Our guideline on season articles is at Wikipedia:Notability (sports), section 6.2: The essence is that
"Articles can be created on individual seasons of teams in top professional leagues, as these articles almost always meet the notability requirements. For college sports teams...A national championship season at the top collegiate level is generally notable, a national championship season at a lower collegiate level might be notable,...A season including a post-season appearance in the top collegiate level is often notable, For programs considered elite in a sport ... many or all seasons might be notable regardless of the outcome"
Even individual games can be notable: See Section 6.3 there for the circumstances. DGG ( talk ) 19:38, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
