Fiore-Moffatt-DJR[edit]

This seems to be a point of contention across the internet: what, exactly, is going on at DJR? A lot of people seem to think that Triple F will become a satellite team of DJR. However, every article about the merger states that Triple F is being shut down. This suggests that all three cars will be run out of DJR.

Also, the photo of the Jim Beam car with Fiore's number 12 on the window is not proof that he is carrying that number in 2012. 12 is Fiore's current number, but whenever Dick Johnson has run a third (or fourth) car, his team has traditionally carried a number associated with it - usually 71 and 81. Tradition has little to do with it. Race numbers are tied in with the franchises. Changing the race number is usually something that has been applied for which is why there were sagas for several years surrounding the Perkins #11 and similarly Murphy #51. It's also for example a useful method of tracking franchise ownership. For example, Tony D'Alberto's franchise can be tied back to the break up of Tasman Motorsport, and in turn to when Tasman purchased Lansvale Racing Team and moved it from Sydney to Melbourne.
The most recent DJR third number was of course #19, but that is tied to the Tekno Autosports franchise. #71 is tied into Action Racing's franchise and is also likely to be unavailable. --Falcadore (talk) 05:45, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But racing numbers can be changed. And easily. Dean Fiore acquired his REC from Team Kiwi Racing, which was originally run under the number 021. Now it's a 12. The picture of Fiore standing before a Jim Beam car with the number 12 is hardly proof of anything. And while the number 71 might be taken, DJR can easily use other numbers that it has been associated with in the past. I believe they used to field the number 28 at one point. I have not seen any confirmation that Fiore will driver car 12, Johnson will drive car 17 or that Moffat will drive car 18 in 2012. We know Fiore will drive a Jim Beam car, but for all we know, DJR and Jim Beam want to keep the 17 and 18 on the Beam-themed cars. We have no proof either way. By that logic almost ALL race numbers should be TBA.
Additionally it is hard to know what number belonged to the Team Kiwi franchise. They always used a three digit number which needed a special application (and fee). What number the franchise actually belonged to (it wasn't 21) is unknown. --Falcadore (talk) 23:00, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Satellite teams in list[edit]

I was thinking: If the list has James Rosenberg Racing, Rod Nash, Britek etc. listed together with the major teams they are associated with, shouldn't Walkinshaw Racing be the same? I don't know any specific details of the relations between the organisations, but I get the impression that the Walkinshaw team is little different from a satellite team to HRT. /Coffeeshivers (talk) 22:07, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Walkinshaw Racing always used to be housed separately from HRT. Don't know if that is still the case, but it was separate team, certainly back when it was a two car operation. --Falcadore (talk) 07:37, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed change to points table[edit]

When it eventually becomes time to create the points table for this season, who agrees with me that the links at the top of each column should go to the event, not the circuit?? (the same as the links in the F1 points tables)

It currently links to circuit to match all other Australian series. This is the only series to have reports, and it is not obvious that the link suggested should link to race reports. In that event that it was to change to report links, I'd suggest instead of three letter circuit code the race number should be indicated R1, R2, R3, R4 etc. --Falcadore (talk) 03:26, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

With every finishing position giving points, might it be worth changing from the F1 results colour standard, to an American colour standard? TheChrisD Rants•Edits 16:00, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

With graded colours giving emphasis to positions like 4th and 5th? No. The top three are the only positions which get any real recognition, so they are the only positions which deserve individual colourisation. --Falcadore (talk) 21:51, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
