Argentina v France[edit]

The 2012 series between Argentina and France was drawn 1-1. I've not come across bilateral series being decided by totalling the points scored by each side (e.g. the 1955 Lions tour of South Africa has always been listed as 2-2 draw) and I've changed the winner of this 2012 series to "draw" and removed the footnote suggesting that overall points gave the series to France. I've also cited the result from the Sannzar website. If this result is to be reverted again to a France win on points, it will need a cite. --Bcp67 (talk) 12:16, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Touch judges or assistant referees?[edit]

I believe the terminology "assistant referee" is the correct one for IRB appointments for internationals; this from Law 6 on the IRB website - "A touch judge may be appointed by a match organiser or a team involved in a match and is responsible for signalling, touch, touch in-goal and the success or otherwise of kicks at goal.

An assistant referee may be appointed by a match organiser and is responsible for signalling, touch, touch in-goal, the success or otherwise of kicks at goal and indicating foul play. An assistant referee will also provide assistance to the referee in the performance of any of the referee’s duties as directed by the referee."[1]

So the assistant referee's duties cover a bit more than just signalling and in the case of international matches they do indeed provide assistance to the referee and indicate foul play. I'm going to revert the officials' titles in this case to "assistant referee" rather than "touch judge". --Bcp67 (talk) 09:08, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. In internationals, they are definitely assistant referees. If the official is appointed ad-hoc and therefore only has the authority to signal when the ball has gone out of play, only then are they touch judges. – PeeJay 11:03, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. So who is volunteering to go through the rest of the international rugby (e.g. 2013 mid-year rugby union tests) articles fixing them? Hamish59 (talk) 19:01, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
