Fixed bracket knockout?[edit]

The semi final fixtures seem to imply that if the Pampas XV or Golden Lions (4th seeds) win their quarter finals, that they will host the semi finals against their higher seeded opponents, 2nd or 3rd seeds. Will this happen, or will the semi finals be re-seeded, as seems to be the norm for Super Rugby and Currie Cup rugby? Crazydude22 (talk) 10:38, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good question, that. The competition rules are actually a bit vague. It does state the semi-final fixtures would be Winner A versus Winner D and Winner B versus Winner C - as replicated in the article. Additionally, General Rule 7.1 (regarding home advantage in semi-finals) states: The teams with the highest number of log points immediately prior to the semi-final matches will have home ground advantage, and if equal, 1.1 to 1.5 shall apply. Now, that rule pertains to all SARU competitions, but the Vodacom Cup is the only one with quarter final games. It doesn't state if this rule still counts, whether quarter finals results should be added to the regular season's log points, etc. But no harm stating that it's tbd. Thanks for that, I see how the rules are a bit confusing. The change just makes the situation clearer though. Crazydude22 (talk) 13:55, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
