Ummm, well technically this isn't a forum... but seeing as you mention it: The thing with the qualifying spots is that they have to go to somewhere else, so you just have to think of wherelse would deserve to take them off Africa. And personally I don't think that FIFA will reduce Africa's numbers given all the development that they're striving for there.Aheyfromhome (talk) 18:43, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
CONMEBOL is the obvious place. The worst performing CONMEBOL team (Chile) performed better than 5 out of 6 CAF teams. CONMEBOL will presumably get one extra spot automatically because of Brazil hosting, but one extra being handed from CAF to CONMEBOL would seem to be the minimum that justice would require. Of course there are still political considerations -- CAF has a lot more FIFA members than CONMEBOL. I guess the question is: are qualification spots handed out on the basis of past performance, future hopes, or political considerations? Grover cleveland (talk) 22:10, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Flag for All Teams[edit]

FIFA Ranking for Seeding[edit]

In the Entrants section, it states that the July 2011 FIFA rankings were used to seed the teams. In the Second round section, it says that the July 2011 FIFA rankings were also used to seed the teams. However, the seedings don't match up.
First round: Mozambique (103), Congo DR (123), Togo (123), Liberia (125), Tanzania (127), Congo (129), and Kenya (130) are the top-ranked teams competing in the first round. All 7 teams advanced to the second round.
Second round: Kenya & Togo are in Pot 3, while the remaining winners from the first round are in Pot 4. If it was based on the same ranking, shouldn't the two teams in Pot 3 be Mozambique and either Congo DR or Togo? The teams that received a bye for the first round seem to be in the correct pots based on the July 2011 rankings, though. Reade (talk) 17:01, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lacina Traoré[edit]

Ivory Coast's Lacina Traoré has been listed as scoring 2 and 1 goals. Does that mean he scored 1, 2 or 3 goals? Or something else? The names are linked to same article, for that matter. 82.141.126.42 (talk) 03:05, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
