"Nominees"[edit]

There are no judges. There are no nominations. There are no "ns". Rather, there are acts that are "eligible". We should label them appropriately. - SummerPhD (talk) 14:42, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The thing is that they are actually called "nominations" on the official website Crikko (talk) 16:04, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Two things:
  • I don't see where the official site calls them "nominations". I see voting pages titled "Nomination for _________". This, combined with the lack of a panel to make nominations, leads me to believe the 'net votes are being called "nominations".
  • A "nomination" is a narrowing from a full list of eligible recipients. The lists presented here are full lists of eligible acts. A horse has four legs even if we call its tail a leg. We have plenty of primary sources using creative/unusual/inexplicable word choices: songs on an album referred to as "scenes" in a "film", sales offers called "special awards", etc. They are what they are whatever the primary source may say they are.
Additionally, I'm thinking the main article needs some juicing up to explain the multiple gaps in the awards. As it is, the award is barely notable and it seems there is a good bit of material out there basically calling them bunk. - SummerPhD (talk) 17:09, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well there are some secondary sources that clearly affirm that the multiple acts listed are effectively 'nominated'. I don't get your point about no Jury being present. Different award shows rely on web voting, but the nominations are still called nominations. The header of the website clearly name them nominations. Maybe during the official ceremony we will see a final rank, like a common award show, but, until then I suggest keeping the nominations there. Regarding what you've stated about the main article, I have not created it on the first hand, and, on the other, I can see why you think these awards are bunk, but they have a long history and after some problems they are clearly going on this year, considering that different performers have confirmed their appearance and such. I will update the article as soon as the show is streamed. Crikko (talk) 22:16, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
