Driver table order[edit]

I have removed the icon system from the driver table because it is messy. No other multi-class system of racing uses it; look at the WRC, MotoGP and WEC season articles.

The problem is that different teams, drivers and constructors are eligible for different championships. Using the icon system, these different entries are scattered throughout, which can make the table confusing. By arranging the table by eligibility, similar teams and drivers are grouped together, improving the readability of the table. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 08:16, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Prisonermonkeys: OK, so are you going to change the tables of the previous seasons BTCC wiki pages that currently use the icon system to keep a sense of uniformity? Jimmy3797 (talk) 19:37, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Jimmy3797: when I get time to, yes. I could use some help with it too, please. ~~

@Prisonermonkeys: The only concerns with your new idea though, yeah it works with the formulae you listed above but in BTCC there's a few differences. How would you list teams like Arena in 2010 who ran as both constructor and independents or Dynamics in 2007 who ran with no class at all, the Nissan Primera's of 1996 that were semi-works backed or the Ecurie Ecossse Vauxhall's of 1993 who ran two manufacture backed and one independent entry like Triple Eight this year. They could look messy, personally I think there's nothing wrong with the icon system when applied to BTCC wiki pages especially as there's only two classes but possibly three or four categories under your system or cars in the same team separate from each other. @Jimmy3797: if it is that big of an issue, why does the 2014 season article only list icons for constructors and indepenents?
If a team swaps between classifications, then that is what the rounds column is for. It shows which drivers were entered in which rounds under which heading. There is no reason why teams cannot have separate entries under different headings. The change from one to the other is arguable, and would naturally need a source in support of it.
Look at 2014 World Rally Championship season as an example. Andreas Mikkelsen has contested eleven of the twelve rounds as a manufacturer entry, but he did Rally Australia as a non-manufacturer, and so he appears in both tables as needed. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 05:05, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Teams' Championship[edit]

We seem to be lacking a results table for the teams and independent team championships. Also, it would be helpful if someone could explain the eligibility for each championship, particularly the Jack Sears Trophy which appears to have yet again been awarded for something completely different. • The Jack Sears Trophy is actually explained several places in this article. In "Rule changes", "Teams and drivers" and in "Results" under the "Winning JST". CGM 20 (talk) 06:59, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@QueenCake: Hi again, both teams' championships are now updated with the final standings. CGM 20 (talk) 13:05, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yep so they are. I actually ended up adding the blank tables after writing that, but good job everybody for filling them in. QueenCake (talk) 15:27, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
