2016 Qualifying slots[edit]

Hey guys, I'm not going to include this onto the page just yet, but I've had it confirmed with a quick phone call to the FFA today that the qualifying slots won't change for 2016. The only difference is that Metrostars are now replaced as NPL Champions by Blacktown City, effectively giving NSW a 6th slot, with SA reverting back to the 1. So far, I've found only two member federations have revealed their numbers (NSW was one, I think the other was NNSW or Vic, but I can't quite remember). Nonetheless, I'm sure it won't be long before there is an official reference that we can use for this, but yeah... No big changes from 2015 season. - J man708 (talk) 02:00, 4 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Matilda Maniac:, what do you reckon would be the best cause of action here? It will probably be until like March before all of the member federations have announced what they are doing. Should we perhaps write up a "speculative" message, ala the one that is shown on the Champions League articles before all their slots are announced, showing what it will be if (and obviously when) they announce the proper slots for each state? - J man708 (talk) 11:38, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think just add them as they are announced by each member federations, and then each one is referenced, and avoid speculation where possible. I have already added references for the NSW and Qld announcements. Based on this years competition, the invitations to participate came out generally December/January - so only a matter of a few weeks. At some point FFA may make an announcement of their own. But your phone call confirmation is not sufficient for an encyclopedia. Matilda Maniac (talk) 14:41, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not suggesting that it is whatsoever. Recheck my OP if you thought that's what I meant! I was making reference to something like the 2015 AFC Champions League page, which was used prior to the draw and slot aloocation.

I still think just add them as they are announced by each member federations, which will be over the coming weeks probably, maybe longer for a few federations, and with luck before matches begin in February. If invitations dont close until end January or later, the format cant get tied down for rounds etc anyway. Matilda Maniac (talk) 04:20, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Where are the average attendances for each FFA Cup? TheSelectFew (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 12:15, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Select, how's it hanging? I'll add 'em up tomorrow if I remember and ping you. - J man708 (talk) 12:48, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Association football or 'soccer'?[edit]

Not sure what the protocol is on these pages, but 'association football' (first sentence) has been replaced by 'soccer', even though the national body and the clubs are have been officially called 'football' since 2005 (not to mention many media outlets). Should we be fixing this or is there something that I'm not aware of? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knowledgemaster2000 (talkcontribs) 12:13, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
