Merge proposal[edit]

I came across this proposed merge of 2016 NRL player transfers into this article. I agree with the merge but noticed a discussion had not been started. I think it is quite obvious that it belongs as a section (collapsible table preferably) within the season article. There is nothing inherently notable to warrant a separate article. @Kvng: as the person who placed the merge templates, would you like to expand on any other specific reasons? Support. AtHome, thanks for formatting the talk pages. I originally proposed it as a prod for the transfers article. From what I can see all of the content is already here under the 2016 Transfers header so that page is just a duplicate. Mattlore (talk) 01:29, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So it is Mattlore. In that case, I can't see why we shouldn't just be bold and turn the transfers article into a redirect. No need to wait for formalities. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 02:09, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, WP:DOIT. I proposed the merge as an alternative to deleting 2016 NRL player transfers because a redirect is preferable in many cases. ~Kvng (talk) 02:18, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I went through the two lists and added two guys that were missing from the main article. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 02:38, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'll note that CodyCruickshank reverted the addition of the two players because they "haven't played a full season". According to their bios they have each played at least one full game, so I think that is worthy of inclusion. But I won't argue about it, just noting it here.
On a separate issue, I have added a sort key so that the list of players is now sorted by surname, not first name. I wasn't sure whether Pauli Pauli needed one though... AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:30, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rather than merged into this article, does anyone else think it would be better split up and merged into the clubs' season articles, such as 2016 Melbourne Storm season? Primarily the effect of player movements is on teams, not leagues, and furthrmore this article isn't crying out for content the same way the most of the clubs' season articles are.--Gibson Flying V (talk) 07:32, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
