T20?[edit]

Are these actually full Twenty20 matches? The scorecard for the first match suggests not, as all the players are showing as zero previous matches. Looks like this is under "Other T20" matches for stat purposes. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:09, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK, looks like they are classed as "Other T20" matches, and not full T20 matches. See Johnson Charles profile on Cricinfo, for example. His last T20 match was in December 2017 in Bangladesh, while the match from last night is listed below that as "Other T20". What could be more straight-forward... Is it because Canada are not full-members / don't have a first-class system. The cricinfo scorecard from yesterday listed Smith's team (can't be bothered checking who that is) as having 13 players too, so it may be that the tournament rules preclude T20 status. Thanks Spike! Certainly didn't spot the 13 player part. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:21, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
According to the scorecard they only used 11 players (if you count bowlers / batters / fielders who took catches) so it may be a cricinfo error to list 13. There is also no mention in the match details that it was 13-a-side which they usually do for tour matches, but I thought it was worthy of mention. Spike 'em (talk) 09:54, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the scorecard on Cricket Archive. Again, digging down on Charles' profile, it lists Toronto Nationals under Miscellaneous and not Main Twenty20. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:09, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The tournament site only lists 11-a-side, so I think we can mark the 13-a-side down as a cricinfo error. Spike 'em (talk) 10:24, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. You'd think with the ICC giving the full approval, and with the players involved, it would have full T20 status. Oh well. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:39, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
On a side note, given the lack of major status, I don't think it's appropriate to include these teams in players' infoboxes (they're often already clogged up with official T20 teams as it is). As such, I've removed Toronto from Steve Smith's infobox. Jellyman (talk) 16:34, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, agree with that. Good catch. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:59, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
