Lead of the article[edit]

Hi. I made this edit to the lead of the page stating the Russian club had been kicked out of the tournament, following the invasion. It was reverted with the summary "it goes in the specific round (already added) not in the lead for consistency". So should this go in the lead, rather than bury it mid-way down the page? Thanks. Hello! No, it shouldn't be on the lead... the cancellation information is only relevant to the round of 16, i.e. it doesn't concern the whole article/event, so it shouldn't be on the intro, therefore it was rightly reverted. Kind regards, Lorry Gundersen (talk) 20:45, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The lead is for summarising the most important things, and the thing most covered in the news is Spartak being kicked out. It's a rare event caused not directly by anything they've done, and so is certainly lead worthy. Currently, this article violates MOS:LEAD as the lead is way too short for an article of this size. While what is most covered in the news usually has very little to do with what's most important, for various reasons, i.e. what's most in the news isn't most of the times noteworthy, if the lead is too short, then I will also agree with you this to also be moved to the lead. If the lead wasn't too short, I wouldn't see why it should be there: for information regarding the general issue, there is already an article, which also has a section about the invasion's repercussions on sports, where extended information regarding football and UEFA in particular would fit better. Agree with Lugnuts and Joseph, it's rare that a team gets thrown out of a competition and even rarer when it isn't their fault. If you were summarising the competition to a friend, you would mention it so it should be in the lead. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 09:26, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree with them. Of course it should be mentioned in the lead. Ludost Mlačani (talk) 08:19, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Counters are wrong when incomplete data is available[edit]

How's the metadata work within this page? The #lst from 2021–22 UEFA Europa League#Semi-finals used to show (correctly) W2 vs W1 and W4 vs W3, but now it's wrong: W1 vs Leipzig and W3 vs W2. :-| -- 89.121.253.228 (talk) 18:59, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, nvm, it's manually entered (as can be seen in an earlier revision), and i misremembered what it was earlier, it was W1 vs W4 and W3 vs W2. Thanks User:Island92 for the fixes. -- 89.121.253.228 (talk) 19:59, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
