Tiebreaker vs Texans[edit]

Aren't the Jaguars eliminated from playoff contention for the season? I read that it's the Texans that are eliminated from playoff contention, but the Texans are actually ranked higher in the division based on the tiebreaker rules. Then again, maybe I'm missing something, but something just seems wrong. Triclops Queen (talk) 04:48, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what's going on there either. Every source I've looked at says the Texans are eliminated, but the Jaguars are not. But I have to admit it's not something I've looked into in detail. Either way, I doubt it'll matter after next Sunday. DragonFury (talk) 09:22, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
All of the above was correct, albeit less than intuitive! The tiebreaker is misleading, as it only says how that'd apply if the season ended then, which clearly it didn't. The actual elimination criteria depends on whether there's some miracle-of-the-millennium set of outcomes from maybe thirty of the games yet to be played that can both improve the Jags or Texans record (to 7-10, as-was), have a whole bunch of other teams fall flat on their face (to 7-10 or worse) and for the tiebreakers to resolve in their favour, by hook or by crook. And it just happens there was such a path for the Jags, but not for the Texans. Emphasis on the was -- long gone now. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 01:22, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

First overall pick[edit]

Since the Lions defeated the Packers, the Jags for the second straight year have the first overall pick in the 2022 draft. Can this be added in? DENBRO1995 (talk) 21:49, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
