Separate article for the Play-in tournament?[edit]

Would it make sense to create a separate article for the play in tournament? It's not really the playoffs with losing teams going to the lottery.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mannysoloway (talkcontribs) 19:22, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is a separate article, and it's at AFD and it's leaning to be deleted. FWIW, in advertisements for the play-in tournament, it is presented to be a part of the playoffs, or at least a "round" of it. Howard the Duck (talk) 18:39, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But the stats don't count for the playoffs[1] I borught up at the AfD that 2020–21 NBA season might be a better home. Go there to discuss. (and avoid fragmented discussion)—Bagumba (talk) 08:51, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Jeez... so they shouldn't be here? I've watched the game and they were talking about the Celtics "advancing to the Playoffs"... I guess that's what they meant.
Also, are stats included in the regular season, or to its own sui generis classification? (The tweet doesn't answer that.) Howard the Duck (talk) 14:16, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In 2020, they said it did not count for either regular season or playoffs.[2]Bagumba (talk) 05:00, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If the Play-in Tournament is not a part of the playoffs, it shouldn't be here regardless of what happens to the AFD, correct? Howard the Duck (talk) 15:50, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's my preference and why I !voted in the AfD to redirect to the general season article, not here.—Bagumba (talk) 01:16, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The NBA and its media partners clearly present it as separate from the Playoffs. Most of the play-in information should be removed from this page pending completion of the Play-in tournament page's AFD Frank AnchorTalk 19:12, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The play-in directly relates to the playoffs. The relationship should be emphasized and explicated, not deleted. GenacGenac (talk) 18:33, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's just perfect where it is as a separate short and to the point section here. I wouldn't think to look in the regular season for it, regardless of the stats calculations. Cheers, Facts707 (talk) 04:58, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Playoff bracket: First Round - link to games within article?[edit]

In the first round of the playoff bracket, clicking on a team name will take you to their regular season details. It might be more useful if it took you down the page a bit to their recent 1st round playoff games (it takes a while to scroll down to even the #2 vs. #7 series). Once there, there could be a link on the team name for the club itself, then a small regular season link. Permanent anchors like #1v8 and #2v7 would make it easier for linking. Chris Paul vs. Clippers[edit]

For the western conference finals section, there should be a mention that Chris Paul once played for the Clippers from 2011 to 2017, and it is the first time that Paul and Clippers faced each other. Pertinent articles are as follows: [1] [2] [3] (link three requires a subscription)

On a side note, for the Clippers, including the 1st and 2nd rounds versus Mavericks and Jazz, they have prevented each team from taking a commanding 3-0 lead.
