Promotion[edit]

So, it seems that the Liga Profesional is suspending relegation until '22. So, does this mean there's just no promotion (basically playing for pride), or will the point totals for this year carry over to next year (similar to the 3-year relegation format)? @YellowAries2010: The suspension of relegation from the Primera División is not being ignored in this wiki page...basically because although relegation was suspended for all tiers and not just for the LPF or Superliga (as it was still known at the time), promotion from the lower tiers was not. In fact, the previous tournament already awarded two promotion spots which were eventually claimed by Sarmiento de Junín and Platense, with which the number of teams in the top-flight increased to 26 for 2021, and will increase to 28 for 2022 since two teams will be promoted at the end of this season, as stated by this page. When relegation resumes in 2022 for all tiers, the LPF will start reducing its size as it had been doing prior to the pandemic, as the idea is to stabilize the league size at 22 teams. Moreover, the 3-year average table for relegation was abolished for the lower tiers by AFA in 2019. CodeMars04 (talk) 15:30, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
