Year-End-Position

The album was the 9th best-selling album of 2009:

End of year chart (2009) Position
German Albums Chart 9

Source: [1] --79.216.157.204 (talk) 22:13, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

That's nice. You know there's still more than 3½ months left of 2009, right? --IllaZilla (talk) 06:51, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
No, we've got 2010 and the chart is about the year-end position of 2009!!! So please include this! --79.216.184.118 (talk) 20:03, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Obviously I meant 2010. I don't really see what significance the year-end position in 1 country is, especially since we alredy include the peak position in that country. Obviously the year-end position is going to be heavily dependent on when the album was released. The year-end position doesn't seem particularly significant for any reason. --IllaZilla (talk) 20:50, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
But it's used on other album pages, too, and No. 9 on the Year End Chart of Germany (btw one of the biggest music markets next to the USA and the UK) is quite successful, isn't it? --79.216.184.118 (talk) 22:03, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
"But it's used on other album pages, too" — Could you give an example? I've never seen "year end charts" used in an album article, just peak chart positions for different countries. The peak chart position is a much better indicator of success than a year-end position. An album released in January or February has a much longer time period to sell units than an album released in November or December, so how is a "year end" ranking an indicator of comparative success? If album A peaked higher on the general chart than album B, that's an indicator of comparative success. Where it happened to place on some year-end chart, which I assume only collates data from that year, doesn't seem that significant. --IllaZilla (talk) 22:24, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

You haven't seen it before? It's on Funhouse, The Fame, This is the Life, No Line on the Horizon, Black Ice... I thought it was usual on every page! But if you compare, also late released albums can reach high positions in year charts, like I dreamed a dream by Susan Boyle did. BTW: Would you please change the German certification as written below? --79.216.184.12 (talk) 13:54, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Why are these not included in the charts ?

  • Billboard Rock Albums - 1
  • Digital Albums - 1
  • Alternative Albums - 1
  • Tastemaker Albums - 1

Certification

The album reached 3x Gold in Germany source. Please add this ! --79.216.184.118 (talk) 20:03, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Why can't we edit anything on this page??

Why are we not alowed to edit this page? Aren't we the volunteers of this website? Isn't the point supossed to be we all write this stuff? If anyone was wondering what I wanted to change, I wanted to add under critical reception that many fans have grown displeased with green day's newer music, and many older fans disliked 21 Century Breakdown. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheerfire (talkcontribs) 03:39, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

That is precisely why the article is semi-protected, to keep new and unregistered users from inserting unreferenced claims and their own biased point of view. This is an encyclopedia, not a place for "older fans" to complain about what they dislike. --IllaZilla (talk) 04:19, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

5th single

Somebody, please, add "Last of the American Girls" to singles —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.28.35.157 (talk) 19:37, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

See the archive for prior discussion on this. --IllaZilla (talk) 20:05, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
I think "Last of the American Girls" should be added to the list of singles for this album. My arguments:
  1. It is described as a single on Green Day's official site (proof: http://www.greenday.com/site/news.php?pageNum_NewsItems=59&totalRows_NewsItems=593, header: 01-29 - "LAST OF THE AMERICAN GIRLS" VIDEO)
  2. It is written in the song's article that it's a single. If it isn't a single, then the information there is wrong.
  3. A CD single was released (for example in Poland, proof: http://merlin.pl/Last-Of-The-American-Girls_Green-Day/browse/product/4,777181.html)
  4. A music video for the song exists (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFNtC8v80ro)
  5. It is available from Ovi Store as a single (proof: http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/4244/lastoftheamericangirls.png) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ciszek (talkcontribs) 14:48, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

So, finally it has been added to the list. I'd like to thank the person who's done it :) —Ciszek (talk) 11:46, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Edit request on 31 March 2012

I made a page about ¡Viva La Gloria! So can u please make a link on it. 21stcnturybreakdown (talk) 11:12, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Not done: please be more specific about what needs to be changed. Where would you like the link, and where is the page located? Please link to the page, and provide specific wording. Thanks!   — Jess· Δ 15:20, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
The user made the article [3]; the redirect was quickly re-instated. Graham87 16:46, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Genre

Need some information about the genre, as this source (USA Today) says the group are no longer punk-pop, but we still have that in the genre's lead. so which is it? Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:05, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned references in 21st Century Breakdown

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 21st Century Breakdown's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 23:59, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
