Untitled[edit]

Looks like someone just woke up in Nov 2010 and saw news about "spectrum raja" and concluded that the scam was unearthed in Nov 2010. And then decided to update the wikipedia page on "spectrum raja".

The scam has been doing rounds for more than a year now. Someone please update the article with correct information. Thx.

Currency Correction[edit]

Hello, One correction with regards to figures here. 1.70 lakh crore is equivalent to 170,000 crores or 17,000 billion. 45 Billion Indian rupees = 1 billion USD. So the scam us approx 378 billion dollars and not 40 billion dollars as noted in the link.

Edit request from ERICTHEKING, 15 November 2010[edit]

{{edit semi-protected}} Hi. I think i can provide some more important informations on Mr.A.Raja from published sources. Its not the matter of waking up. He happened to be from the state i live and i have few more details like where he did his college etc etc.

ERICTHEKING (talk) 05:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please be more specific about what needs to be changed. As the template notes, please state explicitly what text you want to change, in the form of "Please change X to Y." Please provide reliable sources with said request. Qwyrxian (talk) 05:49, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{edit semi-protected}} Hi. I think i can provide some more important informations on Mr.A.Raja from published sources.[1]

ERICTHEKING (talk) 06:04, 15 November 2010 (UTC) Not done: please be more specific about what needs to be changed. As I stated above, you need to be extremely specific about what you want to change. You have two choices right now:[reply]

  1. State a very specific request, like "In the second paragraph, in the third sentence, please change the word X to word Y" or "At the end of the first paragraph, add the sentence ..." Otherwise, we don't know what you want to change.
  2. Wait until you are autoconfirmed. In order to reach this, you need to wait 4 days from when you registered your account, and you must make at least 10 edits to Wikipedia articles (that aren't protected).

We have no way to let you just start adding information, and, unless you provide us with the specifics of what you want to change, no way to make the changes for you. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:38, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Time Magazine Top 10 Abuses of Power[edit]

Island Monkey removed the info about the Time Abuses of Power because the reference did point directly to the Time article. I checked, and the actual time article is available on line here. However, I'm not so sure it should be in the article, anyway--it's really just the opinion of one magazine. If we do include it, it definitely does not belong in the lead, as that would be giving it undue weight. Do others believe we should add a sentence to the Spectrum Scandal section? Qwyrxian (talk) 00:49, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

i agree with you. it also needs to be noted the writer of the WSJ blog — to which the sentence is referenced — seems to find the Time list somewhat faulty. --CarTick (talk) 01:46, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, CarTick: do you mean that you agree that it shouldn't be in the article at all, or that it should be in as a single sentence in the Spectrum Scandal Section? If it does go in, I'm going to reference Time directly, so we won't need to refer to the indearealtimes blog writers' opinions (that's basically an opinion of an opinion, which is going way too far into WP:UNDUE territory). Qwyrxian (talk) 02:19, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
sorry for being unclear. i think it should be in the article because Time's list carries some kind notability and weight across the world though you are absolutely correct when you called it an opinion of one magazine. i believe it would be undue in the lead, but can be mentioned in the spectrum section. --CarTick (talk) 02:31, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The profile box , 2G spectrum scam, Arrest and charge sheet[edit]

The section "2G Spectrum scandal" , "the Box" & "Arrest and charge sheet" contains potentially libellous, such material is repeatedly inserted, it violates the BLP policies,

  • It's written in news style; of first-hand news reports on breaking stories; INCLUDED routine news reporting on things; breaking news are emphasized; these sources lead to overdetailed articles that look like a diary.
  • not all verifiable events are suitable for inclusion; Timely news subjects not suitable and therefore "is significantly NOT enough to be included in the biography of a person". Overall the sources and sentences are 'negative in tone', ' they appear to have been created to disparage the subject' & Materials clearly not added in good faith.

Editors are repetadly inserting the materials, even after mentioning the violation of rules

  1. WP:NOT#NEWS
  2. WP:NOT#NEWSPAPER
  3. WP:NOT#NEWSREPORTS
  4. WP:NOTDIARY
  5. WP:NOTWHOSWHO.

There is s seperate "2G spectrum section" , but still, the informations inserted are in excess than actual Biography, to Malign the person. I am going to remove the excess unnecessary material and write a new section as "Controversy" with a summary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thistorian (talkcontribs) 16:00, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The content is perfectly sourced, hence doesn't violate BLP. The content describes about the person and his activities and hence does not come under News, newspaper, etc. --Anbu121 (talk me) 16:49, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is encylopedia

  • person and his activities? this is encyclopedia, everything should be summarised
  • it is like news neport, sources INCLUDED routine news reporting on things, everything should be summarised.
  • not all verifiable events are suitable for inclusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thistorian (talkcontribs) 17:06, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is of course summarized and all events stated are highly relevant. Please refer WP:NPOV. --Anbu121 (talk me) 17:11, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2G Spectrum scandal

  • The political opposition demanded his resignation over the 2G spectrum scam, Raja initially refused stating his innocence backed by M.Karunanidhi.[2]
  • Then later he resigned his post.[3]
  • The DMK supported him on the basis that he was innocent until proven guilty.[4]
  • On February 2, 2011, the CBI arrested Raja along with his aide, R. K. Chandolia, and Siddharth Behura, the former Telecom Secretary.[5][6]

The above sections are the only perfect summary so this it.,ok. Thistorian (talk) 17:19, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 You are totally ignorant about this.Thistorian (talk) 17:21, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh! Be true to your conscience. --Anbu121 (talk me) 17:23, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Thistorian,
  • All the text is well referenced from secondary sources.
  • The text does not consist of first-hand news reports on breaking stories so WP:NOT#NEWS, WP:NOT#NEWSPAPER and WP:NOT#NEWSREPORTS do not apply.
  • The subject of the article is notable so WP:NOTWHOSWHO does not apply.
  • The text does not contain trivia so WP:NOTDIARY does not apply.
Hence, please stop removing text from this article. The Discoverer (talk) 17:54, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This version [1] (current) looks good. The scandal is summarized in the section with figures and central events. However, the article is highly slanted towards the negative aspects of his life and info about his early political career and election to lok sabha. --Redtigerxyz Talk 07:26, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reply from Biography of living persons & my reply[edit]

It looks to me like the content he is inserting is well sourced, and you have not really addressed that on the article talk page. There does not appear to be a BLP issue here. Continue to use the talk page to try to reach some sort of compromise. - MrOllie (talk) 18:17, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am so pleased by your reasons, great, i understood your judgement, I am not going to talk for any sort of compromise, Thank you 121.200.49.130 (talk) 09:51, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Thistorian (talk) 10:07, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update needed[edit]

Raja visited Tamil Nadu after his release. The Court had given him permission later. Also, current status of the case may need update. --Redtigerxyz Talk 07:30, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
